Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha is a perfect example of how one can deprive a perfectly normal character of all reasonable thinking mechanisms and sensible actions and hence, manipulate audience’s feelings. And as you watch, you question: but why oh why?
Applauding Maheer’s Courage
One minute we clap for Maheer and thank God that she had the sense to reject Areeb and discourage his advances, and the next moment we are at the peak of our frustration as her character is made to take actions which are sometimes questionable, sometimes selfish and sometimes plain foolish.
Why would you go with Anabia to see Areeb when Saad is in jail and you have no news on him. If that was not enough, she didn’t even tell anyone at home. As Saad’s wife and as a mature adult, she should realise she is responsible for Neelo and everyone else at home.
Questioning Maheer’s Choices
We want to be fans of Maheer but we have no choice but to question her choices. That is the power of writing and a gripping story line. But one questions why you would manipulate a character to make senseless choices. Nothing that happens now can justify Maheer’s dukh and subsequent actions anymore.
It was not necessary at all to highlight Saad’s character and make him appear Mr. Wonderful at the cost of making Maheer’s character utterly weak.
Neelo Should Have not Touched Maheer’s Cellphone
Neelo should not have picked up Maheer’s phone. But what we fail to understand was, why she stormed out of the room… Areeb clearly claimed that Maheer was ignoring him and not talking to him, so that should have cleared her ill notions about Maheer. Oh wait… we guess the writer wasn’t satisfied with just Maheer doing silly things … join the club Neelo Jee!
Unresolved Mystery About Areeb’s Mother
Can someone solve this mystery: why is Maheer not telling anyone what Areeb’s mother actually said to her? Why did she listen to that long monologue from her mother.
How did Areeb reach the exact same place where Saad and Maheer were at that precise moment? Given how crazy he is, we wonder why he chose not to just drive right into the robbers and hit them.
We Feel Sorry For Saad
To some extent, we could understand Maheer not wanting to leave the hospital and Saad staying there with her to support her, but then choosing to go with Anabia later just ruined everything. By the way Saad could have called from the hospital landline to inform his parents where they were. But we guess he knew he will be blasted by them. Faha is playing another game now. Dosti kay perday mein ek our sazish.
The drama has been successful in making us feel sorry for Saad. One word that comes to mind when we see him now is “Bechara”.
