The recent Cambridge A-level results have sparked outrage among dejected CAIE students who are demanding a recheck! They take their plight to Twitter – Here’s more on why…

Are you an A-level student? Are you in the same boat as the rest of your batchmates today? Or you really are a totally chill person who follows the Mantra of living and speaking peace. Well either way, if you want to know why the hashtag Cambridge “revise our grades” is trending, read on to know the plight of Pakistani students.
Students are furious, dejected, disappointed after what seems like an unfortunate mass disbelief at the recent A Level results announced by the Cambridge Examinations. The Cambridge candidates are pointing out how A* students have unexplainably dropped to C’s, many who were sure about their expected grades are now left dumbfounded and thus many Pakistani students feel Cambridge should take into consideration the political situation that shook the country at the time because of which some exams were canceled, affecting their whole grade. The students are demanding a rechecking of their examinations making it clear how it is absolutely unacceptable for students to bear the collateral damage of the political crisis and unrest persisting in a third world country. They want to be heard when they say none of them wanted their exams to be cancelled and have to bear the drastic impacts of these results.
These grades are the basis of which these students get into their desired University which is why they expect the most fair and highest standard of checking when it comes to Cambridge and many feel they were left devoid of fair appraisal. Many teachers are also appalled by the results and have joined the students in their pleas in order to get the attention of Cambridge in an attempt to rectify the situation. Students are even seeking Jibran Nasir’s aid in the matter. Will they be successful?
Here is why and what the students are demanding:
Not A Fair Price They Are Paying
“This whole political mess is ruining our future as students. We never asked for this, & it’s not fair that we’re paying the price. @BritishCouncil, it’s high time you take us srsly and make sure we get fair grades. We aren’t the ones causing instability.”
Efforts Gone To Waste
“Giving a vague statement regarding the grading system and keeping Pakistani Students in the same quota as other students is highly unfair. From the looks of it most of our effort has gone to waste and almost everyone is unable to meet uni conditions 1/4 #cambridgereviseourgrades“
How Is It Even Possible?
How is this possible ke 100,000 bachoun ne sahi na perha ho????? #cambridgereviseourgrades
Stealer Of Smiles & Giver Of Tears
“you took away majority of deserving Pakistani a level students smiles away and filled there eyes with tears. we do not deserve this #Cambridgereviseourgrades“
Jibran Nasir Might Save The Day?
Cambridge Exams. Since last night my WhatsApp has been flooded with messages and calls from students sharing grievances about the grading of their #Alevels exams apparently those which were cancelled due to the unrest caused on 9th May. Some of the messages were really distressing and worrying and I hope
@pkBritish take notice. It is important for students to raise their grievances but it is more important to raise them effectively so one can determine if they are genuine and help/act accordingly. Accordingly, I would encourage students that instead of sending WhatsApp messages or posting vague tweets about “wanting justice” it would be better if you explain your issue in detail pointwise by answering following questions by tweeting below so everyone could be aware: 1. Which exams were cancelled? 2. What was the policy adopted for those exams? Were they rescheduled or were grades to be awarded to students based on some criteria other than exams? 3. If there was an alternate criteria then what was it? 4. How was the criteria not properly applied in your case? 5. What was your expected grade based on the criteria in your opinion?
Hope The Hashtag Helps
“no wayyy I got A in business and psychology throughout but what I got in the end was so unfair. idk if this hashtag will help or not but what Cambridge did to all the students of Pakistan knowing our exams got cancelled due to political unrest is cruel. #cambridgereviseourgrades“
Ruined University Admissions
“while i expected A*s and As, Cambridge decided to ruin my uni admissions by giving me terrible grades for exams that i didn’t even get to sit for?!?!?! #Cambridgereviseourgrades @britishcouncilpakistan @cambridgeuniversity @mominsaqib @mjibrannasir“
We agree it’s a matter of students’ life long futures, one they work towards for years putting in all nighters, their parents’ hard earned finances and fragile hopes! We really do hope the students get a fair chance to have their grades rechecked and revised and that the Cambridge board looks into the matter in a detailed manner.
