Parizaad on the TV screen – bent, dark-skinned, with a nose that’s set far too wide to be considered marriageable, shoulders hunched, awkward gait, bizarre wardrobe choices & … no money in the bank … you wonder what will make this hero tick onscreen?

Even Farhad in KAM 3 might not have the social standing or bank balance, but definitely the looks & attitude (some would argue) to make the hero cut.
Why then, is Parizaad, the man (not just the drama) trending for over 48 hours on twitter?
Yes, you got it, we’re giving you reasons why Parizaad might just be your new onscreen crush.
1. He rolls off poetry, that too, in Urdu, with a fluency that defies modern day heroes

So here’s the thing, modern day drama heroes are all about, well, what shall we say, going with the vibe? That means all things hip & cool. Sporting well-tailored suits & stylish shades is their thing, and reciting Urdu poetry is not (unfortunately). Well, Parizaad just made reciting Urdu poetry cool, very cool. Especially when Lubna makes him feel she’s landed on a treasure. He is winning competitions, and hearts with every word. Perhaps not Naheed’s but then, the world is his oyster still & twitter is very much part of it!
2. His awkwardness is both awkward & endearing at the same time
Parizaad shaking hands, Parizaad smiling up from behind his lashes at Bubbly, Parizaad sporting an over-sized jacket as he makes his way through the university (bumping into Lubna). It is his awkwardness that gets us. His shy smile that is so charming, and his ability to let his personality shine through the disjointed wardrobe choices that audiences are falling for.

It is perhaps, the absence of superficiality in his demeanour, the worldliness we are so used to peering at, that is making this un-hero like character so heroic, despite our better judgement. We might still pine for Inspector Nasir in Aakhir Kab Tak, but Parizaad is giving him full on competition – what say you?
3. His sincerity, honesty & humour are winning the day

He might not score in the looks department, but Parizaad is not at all your boring, one dimensional hero. He sought love in Naheed, lost it, but moved on. There were no painful withdrawal symptoms ahem … like Farhad(?) or obsessive deewaana pun, to name a few onscreen heroes at present, take a guess… there was just a graceful acceptance and a ‘move on’ attitude that was so respectful.
Not just that, but his sense of humour with Saeeda plus the brother-sisterly bond between the two shows us there’s more to him than meets the eye!
Our hero has a heart too. His sense of loss when Nasaaz exited – the silent tears & also, the sense of dignity when he refused the offer to sell his poetry were all admirable traits that make our hero more fleshed out, complete and desirable as the companion that might warm our heart & soul in ways that are utterly satisfying!
So take heed ladies. Parizaad might not be your poster boy in the looks department but he sure is turning out to be the unconventional hero every girl might secretly wish for in her heart, if only she would realize that beauty is, but skin deep!
