Parwarish: What an emotional episode—reminding us loud and clear how important is a mother’s strength for her children. The star of the episode was undoubtedly Maya’s mom. She finally stood up to protect Maya, saving her from Waleed. It made us all cry—and then clap for her with pride. And let’s not forget that collective sigh of relief we all took.

Just when we thought Maya’s father was going to kill her and were bracing ourselves for her marriage to Waleed in this very episode, her mother shocked us all by standing up for her daughter. What beautiful dialogues, and what powerful, timely messages.

“Why does she need another person when her father is alive?”

“You, her father, gave Waleed the courage to come and force Maya to do things against her will under our own roof.”

And we could go on and on…

THAT Scene from Parwarish

Wali vs. Waleed was well executed—especially the moment when Waleed fights back after Wali had beaten him mercilessly. It was intense and well done.

What was interesting was seeing the usually soft-hearted, sensitive Wali—who’s always been caring toward everyone—turn into someone so aggressive, almost junooni, when defending Maya. It makes us wonder: Is the drama suggesting that all men have a latent aggressive side that surfaces in such situations?

Or is it reinforcing the age-old trope of men protecting their loved ones at any cost?

Or perhaps it was all the anger and frustration bottled up inside Wali, that finally exploded?Whatever the reason, the beauty of that moment cannot be ignored—it was Maya’s love that gave Wali the strength to act in a way so unlike himself.

Let’s also not forget what truly pushed Wali over the edge: Waleed forcing his relationship on Maya. Wali couldn’t bear it, because he has always respected women.

Point To Note

The drama deserves appreciation for showing the contrast in Waleed and Maya’s conversations with her father and mother. Every objection raised by Waleed was met with a counterpoint in Maya’s heartfelt dialogue with her mom.

Just when we felt relieved that Maya’s father had finally understood the situation, we were thrown back into despair as he once again pressured his wife to seek another rishta for Maya as soon as possible. This man simply refuses to change.

The visible change in Maya’s father Shaheer’s attitude, was so apparent after his wife’s emotional confrontation, and it was brilliant. Looked like all he needed was someone to stand up to him.

On That Note

The dynamics between Mahnoor and Jahangir were also very interesting and relatable for many couples. It highlighted how both are so caught up in their own world that they end up telling each other what to do, rather than truly communicating.

However, although we get it that Mahnoor must communicate to Jahangir before she says yes to the job, we also wish Jahangir had congratulated her rather than giving her the same old irritable response. These two need to sit down and talk to each other, let’s hope it’s sooner rather than later. The school principal offering a job to Mahnoor felt a bit weak in execution. Mahnoor constantly speaking in English felt odd, and when the job offer finally came, it felt more like a forced “aha!” moment for viewers. We finally realised, oh, that’s what the creators were building up to. But Mahnoor’s real reason for being there—Anya—was barely touched upon. She even told Jahangir that Anya is okay and settling in well, which is clearly not true.

It all felt like a classic Pakistani drama shortcut—jumping from point A to point B without giving the journey the attention it deserved.
