As organizers make the final preps for PSL4, we go into the season hoping for some great games, sportsmanship, dramatics, cricket fervour and fun, fun, fun! This year should be twice as exciting for Pakistanis as the second round of matches, and the final, is expected to be played in Pakistan! Before the first ball is bowled, before it all gets too loud, before we find out who won the toss, let’s take an inside look and read up on the 10 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW about PSL 2019 before the tournament kicks off on 14th. 1. PSL’s 6th. Franchise
We all know what happened to Multan Sultans after their debut in season 3, we are excited that we will still see a 6th team with the same name under a different owner Mr. Ali Tareen.
2.Karachi Kings have lost Boom Boom
Shahid Khan Afridi, the heartthrob of Pakistani Cricket will be playing from Multan Sultans in PSL 2019, after he exited Karachi Kings over a T10 dispute with the owner Mr. Salman Iqbal.
3. Peshawar Zalmis have a new player
The man who won this tournament twice in one jersey has finally left his team Islamabad United and moved to Peshawar Zalmi – our very own Misbah Ul Haq.
4. The man to watch out for
Mr. 360 Degrees, Abraham De Villiers will debut in PSL from Lahore Qalandars, (also known as the unluckiest team of PSL).
5. PSL’s most favourite owner is Lahore Qalandar’s Mr. Fawad Rana
No matter which team you’ll be rooting for, we all love him because of his genuine personality, heartfelt reactions to winning or losing (his dedication of the Karachi win to victims of Sehwan) and of course, the GANGNAM STYLE dance took our breath away! He is as human as they come!
6. PSL is the ONLY league in the world to be played in 2 countries
UAE (first part of the tournament), and PAKISTAN (Lahore and Karachi expected to host the final matches).
7. Every PSL season gives our national team some new stars
In previous editions we found players like Shadab Khan, Hassan ali, Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Afridi and many more. So we look forward to discovering more cricketing gems in season 4 as well. The field is wide open, so show us what you can do, the world is watching!
8. Say HELLO to Cricket in Karachi
Karachi’s National Stadium is getting a makeover, expecting to host the PSL 2019 Final!
9. We’re hoping for some drama
The most exciting news about PSL 2019 is that both Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal are playing in the same team which is Quetta Gladiators. Both these players are quite controversial because of their off-field behavior so it will be pretty exciting to watch them both playing in one team. Both will also be playing under the equally controversial Pakistani national team captain Sarfraz Ahmed (who is captain of Quetta Gladiators).
10. Last but not the least
PSL is the most popular T20 league in the world after Indian Premier League. So that’s one BIG reason for you to stay in the know with PSL 2019 updates starting February 14th. 2019.
