Raqs-e-Bismil – Is It Okay For Moosa To Stalk Zohra In The Name Of Love?

Just a few episodes and Raqs-e-Bismil already has us hooked, but why the lone man stalking a burqa clad woman, harassing her (dare we say?), all in the name of marriage? Is it okay for the hero to do it, crying out his ghairat in the very public backstreets of a muhalla where everyone can enjoy the love story?

BUT… we’ll come to that later. First, the good part!

Raqs -e- Bismil – Delivering A Drop Scene in Episode 3!

Raqs-e-Bismil is the new drama in town, yes – watchable, very watchable and … keeping you hooked. Did we describe that right?

So, if you’ve missed out on episode 3, we’re here to give you a quick review of what happened this week! Sit back, grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the weekly review.

What will Moosa do next?

Was Zohra testing Moosa to check if his ishq could survive the shock of knowing her reality, or did she merely want to challenge his arrogance and his sense of self importance over his family & background?

The episode closed on a fairly well-directed drop scene. We have to give credit to director Wajahat Rauf for handling it just right – it was a fine tight rope between down right cheesy and classy, and it could have gone either way (perhaps we haven’t quite recovered from Nomi and Sehba’s questionable shenanigans in Raaz e Ulfat), or perhaps the presence of super stars Sarah Khan and Imran Ashraf helped to achieve the right ‘look’ for the scene, but the air of suspense, mystery and drama was nailed to deliver an air of surprise, both to Moosa, and us, the viewers. Well done there!

3 episodes have set the backdrop for much drama to follow. We are very curious to join Moosa in his journey from gadda nasheen to Zohra’s aashiq!

But

What we don’t want to see is…Moosa’s converting Zohra into a tabedaar biwi, ready to give up everything for him.

What we also don’t want to see is, Moosa following her around, lost in love & renouncing his background & family traditions completely.

Where will the two meet then? Halfway is not a thing either of them seem to be very good at. It’s all or nothing. So who will bend first and who will refuse to give in. We have a feeling Zohra will be calling the shots, at least for the first half of the saga!

Oh, wait a minute, Sakina aur Isa bhi tou hain

The story is so strong that we nearly forgot about Sakina & Isa. Momin Saqib aka Isa delivered some powerful dialogues there, as he challenged Sakina to show her ex’s loyalty towards her.

So far, Isa had been a docile, accepting qurbani ka bakra. Lost in love over Sakina as he was, grateful to be locked in matrimonial (bliss?), but now that the non-existent honeymoon period is over, Isa seems to have awoken to the wrath of Sakina and shows he’s every bit capable of matching her words. Of course, she’s written to her ex and hopes for a positive reply – that story is unfolding gradually, due to a convincing performance from both Anoushay and Momin.

What happens next?

Well, Moosa is sure to become a regular at Zohra’s … the rest will unfold in the following weeks. It will be fun to watch Moosa’s father (the Pir Saahab) realize where his gadda nashin son has decided to lose his heart. That is of course, the twist in the tale.

And finally, we return to the question of Moosa unashamedly stalking Zohra in the city streets. Is it acceptable if a man does it in the name of love and marriage? You tell us, we’re just asking the questions!

Three weeks in and Raqs-e-Bismil has us on the edge of our seats

Here’s the teaser for episode 4. Enjoy!
