Yes, it’s the year end – and no year-end can fly by without recapping and rewinding the moments that stood out for giving the world a bit of love, magic, and wonder! Some of us had a fabulous year, while some not so much. Showing you the silver lining is what we’re here to do! So we bring you these 11 top moments some from 2019 that we just can’t get over – and neither should you!
1. The Royals Visit Pakistan

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate visited Pakistan in October 2019 on a goodwill tour. During their visit they had many moments which captured the hearts of people all over the country. The prince and princess paid tribute to local Pakistani designers throughout their trip – Kate charmed her way into Pakistani hearts and even William wore the traditional Sherwani to complete the ‘Desi’ look. To top it all, they played our favorite sport, Cricket.
2. Abid Ali’s Cricket Centuries

Abid Ali – 32 year old Pakistani cricketer scored a century in his debut ODI against Australia in March, and scored his second and third centuries in Test matches against Sri Lanka in December. This made him the first Pakistani, and ninth person in the history of Test cricket to score two consecutive centuries. Two thumbs up for you Abid Ali, for all the moments you made us proud Pakistanis!
3. African American Women were Crowned Winners in 5 of the Top Beauty Pageants

This one blew us away! Five pageant winners this year were African American Women. Starting with Miss USA’s winner Cheslie Kryst, Miss Teen USA- Kaliegh Garris, Miss America- Nia Franklin, Miss Universe- Gazini Ganados, and finally Miss World- Toni-Ann Singh
4. Naseem Shah became the ninth-youngest cricketer to make an international debut

Naseem Shah, a 16 year old bowler, became the ninth- youngest cricketer to make his debut internationally for Pakistan. He was making his debut in Australia when his mother passed away, he still stayed put and continued to make his country proud. He also took his first five-wicket haul in test cricket against Sri Lanka.
5. Laal Kabootar winning international awards

Pakistani movie Laal Kabootar is about a woman seeking revenge for her husband’s murder. She finds a cab driver willing to bend the law in order to earn some quick cash to leave the country and settle abroad. The unexpected pair find themselves in many difficult situations, bringing viewers to the edge of their seats. It is Pakistan’s official entry for the Academy Awards 2020, and has won the Vancouver International South Asian Film Festival Award for Best Feature Film 2019. Also, Pakistani actor Ahmed Ali Akbar bagged the Best Actor award at the Washington DC South Asian Film Festival
6. The Jonas Brother’s Reunion

The Jonas Brothers were just about every girl’s favorite boy band back in 2008. They were part of some pretty iconic movies like Camp Rock and Chasing Happiness. They even had their own TV show on Disney called Jonas, which is why their split in 2013 was devastating. Finally after 6 years, they reunited and went on tour this year, releasing new songs which fans are going crazy over.
7. Jennifer Anniston joining Instagram

The F.R.I.E.N.D.S star jumped on the bandwagon and joined Instagram in October. She broke the world record of reaching 1 million followers in just five hours and sixteen minutes. Her first post was a selfie with the cast of F.R.I.E.N.D.S, and since then, she has a whopping 22.2 million follower base.
8. Bebe Rexha Calling out Designers

Bebe Rexha was nominated for two Grammies this year, and faced an unexpected problem. She said it was hard to find a designer to dress her simply because she was “too big”. The singer called out designers for not dressing anyone above a size eight, and wants other girls to love their bodies.
9. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello’s insane Chemistry

Shawn and Camila’s romance started blooming after they dropped their music video Señorita, they drove us insane with the speculation of whether they were dating or not, when they finally announced they were, we couldn’t handle it!
10. Malala making it to the cover of Teen Vogue

Malala Yousufzai was interviewed to be on the cover of Teen Vogue’s last issue of the decade in which she talks about how she wants to move one step ahead and bring change and promote positivity, because that’s what will change the world
11. Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga singing at The Oscars

Bradly Cooper and Lady Gaga’s steamy performance of Shallow from A Star is Born at The Oscars left us spellbound. The chemistry between the two was electrifying and left us shipping them so hard especially since both of them have had breakups in 2019. Both claim that it was just a performance, but we beg to differ!
