Sabaat – Critics Just Can’t Stop Asking These 6 Questions

The third episode of Sabaat was fast-paced and a bit explosive to say the least. While the episode had some very powerful scenes, it somehow had some really weak scenes too which were not needed at all. We almost felt as if it was being directed by two different people. Well, here are 5 questions that we couldn’t stop ourselves from asking after watching Sabaat. Read on and tell us if you felt the same.

1.Why was Miraal made to slap Enaya?

Is it that we lack creativity and decide to take the tried & tested route for a thappar for high TRPs or to catch viewers’ attention? If the director was trying to establish Miraal as someone jo apni daulat kay nashay main hai, if she wanted to make Enaya feel insulted, if she wanted to put Enaya in her (rightful) place and portray a very condescending attitude towards other people, it could have been done easily by Miraal pushing Enaya, and accusing her of trying to get involved with her brother. It could have been done by making a huge scene. It could have been done with the power of dialogue (why do we have script writers?), and expressions. I think that would be more insulting for Enaya, that would have caught more attention, and that would have hurt Enaya more… hence we question again: why the thappar?

2. How come Hassan was not shocked to see Enaya at his Nani’s funeral?

If your sister has just slapped someone and you are extremely embarrassed, wouldn’t you be a bit shocked in the least and wonder what that person is doing at a funeral in your house? Wouldn’t you at least approach him/her and say a few words to that person? Maybe, just maybe, thank them? Sabaat makers, you need to fix this one.

3. If it was Hassan who had protected Miraal, kiya Miraal kay dost muzzaq uratay?

So Hassan was bugged that the whole college was making fun of him, that instead of fighting his own war, he asked his sister to fight it for him. But what if it was the other way round, would people have asked the same question? Isn’t it time the script focuses on the right points and moves away from stereotypical ideas?

4. Which old fashioned school are Miraal and Hassan, (who are ultra rich), attending?

Sabaat

Which college leaves stacks of paper records open … and just how could Enaya’s friend very conveniently find Hassan’s home address? Why, oh why did we need to go through the torture of that scene? Why couldn’t Enaya just ask someone in the college for the address?

5. Why did Enaya’s friends let her go alone to Miraal’s house?

Even though they all saw how badtameez and condescending Miraal was, Enaya’s friends very conveniently let her go alone to tackle her… If Miraal was arrogant enough to slap Enaya over a petty thing in front of everyone, what was she capable of in the comfort of her own home, alone with Enaya?

6. Nani and Hassan kept asking Miraal why she went to college. No one asked how dare she slap a girl?

We are completely flabbergasted by this response. What was worse, – Miraal visiting the college to talk to Enaya or Miraal slapping Enaya? Was it not important that Nani or Hassan should have at least questioned Miraal about it? Why are we taking the thappar so lightly?
