Is it just a fad or is it really rad? Do these chicken wings from Snacc actually taste like Coca-cola? Read on to find out the answer to this billion dollar question!

Obsessed with Coca-Cola? Does it happen to be your preferred form of hydration? (Hey, no judgements here) Then these wings might be an obvious yet to be discovered favourite for you. The seriously sweet soda is an iconic beverage, still being one of the most globally consumed beverage/soda. Pair it with another global favourite food like chicken wings and you have a blockbuster. Now imagine what if they joined forces?
Though to be honest, we really never did imagine there would exist something like coca-cola wings. So when we saw these on Snacc’s menu we were kind of unsure, actually rather skeptical, how can coca-cola wings actually exist? What would they even taste like? We needed to try them to be able to answer all these questions! So we did! Snacc is your go to place for fun snacks! Another food festival hit, initially a food start up, they have also launched a dine in location in DHA, Phase 6, Karachi.
We didn’t know what we were expecting to be honest, maybe chicken wings drowning in coca-cola or a chicken in a red can, well you can’t blame us for our imaginations running wild. The very thought of their existence had us questioning our entire lives. So for confirmation, we actually called Snacc to find out if what we saw was actually right.
A box of wings costed us Rs. 790 including delivery charges and we ordered directly by calling the restaurant.
The Coca Cola Chicken Wings Visual
The wings were boneless, rather bright in colour which one could easily mistake for being spicy. Sprinkled with a generous amount of sesame seeds and chopped vivid green spring onions. The good thing was they were positively crispy despite being drenched in the coca-cola infused sauce. Yes, it’s not just a gimmick, we confirmed with the staff and the wings’ sauce did actually have coca-cola as an ingredient!
The Taste Test: Coke Or No Coke?
Okay so they might be easily confused with the standard Korean chicken but it wasn’t the same. There was a difference for sure. At first bite, you taste something tangy and then comes something sweet. But it’s a wonderful blend between tangy, mildly spicy and fizzy sweet. It wasn’t spicy despite it’s bright red hue but had minimal spice levels. If you love oyster sauce and have tasted it before, you would find the flavour profile to be quite similar – sweet and salty.
Okay okay we know you are rather impatient to know if in actuality, the wings did indeed taste like coca-cola…So you can’t exactly, instantaneously pinpoint the fizzy drink but several seconds in or a minute later the iconic cola flavour does hit you if you pay attention. We also loved how they were actually bite sized!
Our Verdict
The entire team at FUCHSIA was sure excited tried these highly awaited wings and we were divided. Some of us did taste the coke and could tell while some couldn’t really be sure of it. Some thought it tasted like honey, an extra sweet sauce! But coke or no coke, the wings were surely a hit and we wouldn’t mind having them again but they might be a bit on the pricier side.
