What will it take for our drama makers to forget the thappar as an essential part of the narrative?

The pain of watching your favourite actors falling prey to commercialism and senseless thappars is another level of dukh that will take us a long time to recover.
Is it that our creators do not have confidence in their abilities that they feel they must insert sensational thappars in a script to get views for their project?
Social Responsibility
When you sign on a project in whatever capacity, do you not question the impact a certain action, or a dialogue can have on the young minds you are influencing?
It is 2023, do we really want our daughters to romanticise men who slap or physically, emotionally abuse women, and then say sorry? Do we realize we are telling all those women trapped in an abusive relationship to keep taking abuse as long as the abuser apologizes and regrets it … till the next time?
“Forget his negative side, just be with him for his good side… but at what cost?”
Do we want our sons to emulate the heroes who cannot control their anger, who think that if a woman misbehaves, they have the right to strike her? Do we realise how all of this impacts the overall mental health of individuals in a society, impacts family values and eventually leads to a damaged and irresponsible society?
Relevance To Narrative
The saddest part is that, the slap didn’t even make any sense (if a slap can ever makes sense). Did we really need that slap? No… not at all! The drama and the Murtasim-Merub story was going strong even without it. So we are quite confused as to the need for unnecessary sensationalism and really question why.
What caused further damage was the suggestion that this thappar was a one-time event that Murtasim regretted immediately after. Whether it happened once or multiple times, does not make it any less violent or degrading and still sends across an irresponsible message to audiences.
The comments on social media make us wonder – do thappars become justified and performances in that scene are actually praised, if they are being performed by popular and your favourite actors?
