Having delighted audiences with critically acclaimed and path-breaking originals such as Churails, Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam, Dhoop Ki Deewar, among others, ZEE5 Global has announced its next Zindagi original titled “Mrs. & Mr. Shameem”. The 20-episode series features popular actors Saba Qamar and Nauman Ijaz, and is set to premiere on ZEE5 Global on March 11, 2022.
Kashif Nisar and Saji Gul bring us a unique, refreshing concept, No saas Bahu drama, no extra marital affair, just a story of two imperfect people who share an inseparable bond based on an unconventional friendship. 1. Leads Of Mrs. & Mr. Shameem
“Umaina is fearless, strong and is not afraid to express herself. She is a true wild child. Playing this role was very exciting and challenging at the same time as it is very different from the roles I have played earlier. I think it’s time men and women are given the freedom to choose their path and not be restricted to play by the rules. Mrs. & Mr. Shameem demonstrates this perfectly.”

Nauman Ijaz proves to be an exceptional & versatile actor. Watching him share the screen once more with Saba Qamar is a treat for viewers. Saba has repeatedly shown a talent to play unconventional roles with great sensitivity & this will be another one to watch!
“Shameem is not like the usual hero you get to see in series and films. He is a soft-hearted, caring man. He redefines the portrayal of how an ideal man or man of the house typically should be. Throughout the show, you’ll see him practise respect, love and concern for his family and friends but unfortunately he is made fun of for being ‘effeminate’. I have thoroughly enjoyed playing this character, and I’m looking forward to the release of the show.”

2. Direction & Cinematography
The direction, cinematography and concept is depicted innovatively & the narrative carries a message which is both endearing & promising
3. The Approach
Mrs. And Mr. Shameem is attempting to go where no Pakistani content maker has gone so far. Yes, we have witnessed narratives on the transfolk community, but they have never taken a centre focus, just like their real lives. And neither have they been portrayed in a manner that allows them to adapt into mainstream lives, rather than continuing to live marginalised existences.
This is why the story carries a spark, a hope and a whisper of change in a society that finds it hard to wrap its head around people they consider ‘not normal’.
We might sympathise with them, attempt to assist them and maybe even educate or employ them, but can we, will we, allow them to enter into our nearest circle? Do we have it in us to open up our hearts & homes to them?
That is what Mr. And Mrs. Shameem promises and that’s why we need to open our minds to watching a story that might help change many perspectives, Iives and subsequent futures.
