“It’s different for designers. They don’t get the same respect as say doctors or engineers get. I asked them [the students] why they are choosing this field and they said they could have chosen another field and gotten more respect, but they chose this because they’re passionate about it” – Faizan Dar

What Is The Film About?
Enchanted Odyssey is one of the firsts in Pakistan that bought together fashion, talent, and visuals that are a sight for sore eyes! This project was led by 33 students at AIFD and took nearly 10 months to come alive. The creativity was conceptualized by the creative director Faizan Dar in collaboration with Darang Productions. The film is narrated through the eyes of a young girl which encapsulates the journey of creativity of each individual.
The Process
The students conducted research, and developed mood boards, color boards, and prints for the “whole fashion film.” Faizan Dar spoke to DAWN and explained how the prints were initially created by hand and then converted into digital prints. The team worked on the silhouettes in accordance with the various themes as they manually crafted the blocks and screens. The students even took part in the set design process and were aided by Artisans’ Studio. They fleshed out the idea first, then the theme. And then they got to work on the storyline. Due to budget constraints, the students used scraps and leftovers and purchased the supplies at a discounted price. The students were aided by Professional experts such as Rhyan Thomas for hair and make-up.
