Office ka phone hai, abhi mein aapki baat nahin sun sakti”. When you hear these words from your child, do you know where they’re coming from?
Chai gives you a wake up call – literally, but the latest Lipton TVC is telling us that it also gives us something else!
Jagein un kay liye,
Jo Waqai Aham hain

Lipton’s new TVC is sending out a message to parents – “We know you’re busy – who isn’t? But take out time for those you love”.
The story line opens onto a father playing with his daughter when a phone call from work disrupts the play. The ‘ek minute’, of course extends to much more, till the daughter is left playing by herself. The expressions say it all – the wife/ mother preparing doodh patti, catching the disappointment on her daughter’s face, as the dad slips into work mode – how many of us have been there?

The dad switches off from his family, mentally transported (in a matter of seconds) – from his home to his workplace. He flips open his laptop to browse pie charts – one minute there, the other minute – gone!

But most importantly, the daughter, who, lost in play, turns around to see her father, as he halts the play instantly – when ‘that’ phone call takes him to a world she can’t reach – a place she probably despises because it takes him away from her. She quietly slips away into her ‘alone’ play mode, disappointment written all over her face.
What now? We say. Yes, What now exactly?
It’s the heavenly cup of Lipton Doodh Patti to the rescue. Notice, not tea bag, not dum waali chai – hmmm are we going back to the full-bodied brewed taste of milk and tea? Would have loved to see some sugar in the frame to add the mithaas!

Anyway, what happens now is, that as the wife places a freshly brewed cup of tea before her husband, he takes a breather – aaah! How many of us have been there too!
And THAT is probably the defining moment for a lot of us!
Chai gives us time to pause, to take a moment OFF – to recharge our batteries. And – most importantly, to reflect.
The realization dawns hard and true as the daughter drives home the point, playing with her Teddy bear on a pretend phone call, she tells him:
“Office ka phone hai, abhi mein aapki baat nahin sun sakti”.
In this instant, Lipton conveyed a silent, yet poignant message – children will mimic what they see. It’s not about telling them you’re important – it’s about SHOWING them that you are!

That moment of silence when we sip chai, gives us time to pause in our chaotic lives and reflect.
Aap apne bare bare kaamon ko ahmiat dene mein,
Apnon ki choti choti khushian miss tau nahin kar rahe hain?
For many of us die-hard Chai lovers – that cup of tea can be the wake up call – rather than the office – the moment to set our priorities, and rethink the day … and perhaps … life?
