Dear Drama Folk, I’m back with the weekly drama dose. The gripping, the not-so-gripping, the slow-mos, and the moving (not fast), just moving, if you know what I mean! Dramas might be your go-to remedy when Virat Kohli unleashes his chakkas onto a bewildered Pakistani off-spinner, or the Umpire strikes back, yes, really! It was all happening right there, on PTV Home, which, apologetically, I couldn’t watch, being far from home, but then, those dubious FB watch links to the rescue!Scroll down to catch up on Tinkay Ka Sahara, Bakhtarwar, Meri Shehzadi, & Daraar.

Tinkay Ka Sahara
Anyway, we were discussing a dramatic week and we begin with Tinkay Ka Sahara which is making waves (not ripples, please note) in the realm of desi relationships. Hammad aka Haroon Shahid is my hero in shining armor as he lets his lady take center stage every time! From doing the groceries to helping her peel veggies, making the best chai in the world (according to Qadar), and not letting his ahem male ego come in the way of financial and personal success.
It is both sad and uplifting to note how a simple act of male support gets a standing ovation from us because well, we are so used to the men in our lives not rising to the occasion. From buying Qadar a car to arranging a shop and a home, Hammad conquered many milestones that many men would find hard to do with their wife’s hard-earned money. Does it take a man like Hammad, the underdog, unemployed and unappreciated by his family to appreciate a woman like Qadar? We hope the employed, appreciated men in our lives are taking notes too. The Hammads in our lives need to be a norm and not an exception! Yeah?
Onwards to Wasay and his ‘messed up’ sis and Durriya who will never ever want to marry a rich guy again (I kid you not). Two thumbs up for Durriya’s parents for supporting her and two more thumbs up (if only I had 4) for Durriya’s dad for not having a heart attack while he faced off with Wasay! Thank you drama makers for letting that one go, were you to go the KTK way, he would have been in the hospital presently, fighting for his life! Anyway good to see a story that is different from the rest and definitely following this one for more love feels from the ‘Qadar-Hammad’ duo!
Meri Shehzadi
And that’s not definitely happening in Meri Shehzadi as Shehroz holds the fort here. Both Dania and Cam have been handled with merciless ease – smooth operator just got a new name and Shehroz has wrapped them both in his charming spell! Where Cam is bound by her child and, we suspect, love, Dania is cajoled into thinking he cares. But what keeps us going is the ruthless political ends that Shehroz and his mom will go to achieve their purpose. Ali Rehman Khan is hitting the high notes here as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, he has a grip on events and doesn’t lose his cool even as Cam storms into his funeral home. Dania aka Urwa Hocane on the other hand, looks pretty and puzzled and sad, the perfect mix for the princess diaries or what this show was supposed to become? But what surprises is how Cam aka Sonia Mishal grabs our sympathy too.
What?
How can we side both wives? Oh but we do, and that’s the magic of the game. So I’d say, another out of the box story. Dunno if it’s a Diana remake as the non-desi Cam had no children (and still doesn’t) and never married our prince charming with a child in tow. But, good to digress from the real and give us surprises in the story line. Wait and watch what happens next!
On To Daraar
Onwards to the Danielle Steele x new world Mills & Boon that’s eating away at the fabric of our society! How dare you Daraar?
Daraar is challenging our concepts and medical knowledge on how many women can a man sleep with at one point in his life. I’m not a man so don’t ask me, I’m just here to ask the questions! But on a serious note, Daraar is not your average drama as it pulls viewers into instant shock stage as Shaheer aka Syed Jibran toys with 3 women, one his rightful wife, one her cousin, and one, unknown to both these women and does it with a swag that surpasses Shehroz in Meri Shehzadi! Syed Jibran, what were you in another life – just kidding folks, joke, it’s a joke! And that’s just coz you’re acing the role!
Question is, should Shaheer be treated differently the poor innocent man who is having just one extra marital affair? (please note the sarcasm). Oh yes, say all the men, who erred just once, we are small players in the big league! Okay, apologies for my not taking the topic seriously. Womanizers do exist. And wives sometimes know about their husbands’ excessive and frequent flings (Irha is in ignorance is bliss land right now, let her stay there, says the considerate me) and often are not equipped on how to handle it. And before we go blaming the other woman, do remember he’s the one who’s being unfaithful.
BUT, coming to Sajal, you could be more sensitive and less selfish. Are you falling in love with Shaheer, coz that’s not going to go anywhere. Any thoughts of a second wife will be met with a flat refusal, from where I’m watching the story. Men like Shaheer are excited by the risk, danger and secrecy involved in taking the risk. They thrive on balancing more than one woman in their lives, in fact, they might even enjoy it? But once that woman falls seriously, deeply in love, it becomes boring. Not fun to play the game anymore. So watch out Sajal. What say you?
This drama might make many feel it is sensational material, which it is, which is why many watch. But, it is also real for many men and women who live the lives of Shaheer and Irha and … no one talks about them. Oh well, hopefully we can see it’s not a Jalan remake, or is it? Time to find out soon. Tell me what you think!
What’s New In Bakhtawar?
Bakhtawar then!
Time to reveal yourself and fast coz Sheeda’s got you in his grip and you are pretty much caged Bakhtawar. If I were you I’d throw caution to the winds and run to Dilawar and pour my heart out! Lekin, kahani kaise aagay chalegi mere dost! Jee bilkul, it’s not over till it’s over and one must wait for the final countdown (which has begun by the way). What do you reckon our Dilawar will do when he discovers the real Bakhtu has more alphabets to his name? And, you know what I’m wishing?
Yeah, read the whole story to find out, you can’t skip this one!
I’m really wishing, hope against hope, that Dilawar’s reaction is one we just did not expect! As in, he doesn’t feel duped or disappointed but takes it all in a snap and assists Bakhtawar in fighting her enemies. What I mean is, I don’t want to suffer that one or two episodes where he sulks and she runs away to poor unsuspecting Ahad and then Dilawar embarks on a Bakhtawar quest as he realizes she is his one true love, you know, kinda like DDLJ? Coz that’s already been done, so give us a reveal we’re rooting for please!
Just wishful thinking on my part but, why not?
And, if you think I forgot Pinjra, never! But for that, I couldn’t serve up one or two short paragraphs, that’s just unfair for such a powerful episode. So you have a full-blown review of my Pinjra contemplations. Care to know more? Then hit the link here!
And that’s a wrap folks! Keep watching what your heart desires but do catch up on my fav Netflix show This Is Us if you haven’t. I’m in love with Randall, though sometimes its Jack too, but since he’s long past my time, Randall will have to do!
Adios and happy watching!
