Hello Dramas! It’s good to know you’re doing better than Joyland. You have extramarital affairs, thappars, and more but you’re going strong, very strong! In fact, if you recall, Prem Gali, earlier this year, also did pretty well, because the trans people depicted in the narrative were not really living fulfilling, complete lives. All they had was a job and a place to live in our neighborhood, and that was, oh well, we were so ‘woke’ to allow them to do that right?

Yeah, we have a long way to go, but what matters is that the way we go is forward – the direction is all that matters.
Letting go of my woes about Joyland, let me get to the job at hand. Scroll down to catch up on your favourite dramas.
Habs
Habs you have placed Ayesha in a dilemma! She must deal with the reality of Soha, the ex who makes a well-timed reappearance into Basit’s life, and also her own ability to sulk instead of communicate – this one is particularly magnified at present. I mean, why not ask Basit straight away – what’s up with Soha, are you in or out? Rather than beating about the bush, sulking at the dinner table, and then letting out all that pent-up anger on your teeth as you brushed half the episode away (slight exaggeration there). But seriously, Ayesha is sometimes her own worst enemy, which, ahem, we could say for Zoya as well, who is now in hot waters as she attempts to create the immaculate conception and keep her marriage a reality!
But as we contemplate the destiny of these two ladies, (Ayesha’s is definitely looking brighter, if you run a toss), I mean, creating an overnight pregnancy is easier said than done, the odds are harder, if you know what I mean!
In short, Habs needs to step on the accelerator, wrap up the story and fast!
On To Fraud
Fraud it is then, which flows naturally after Qudsia’s pregnancy fraud in Habs. But it’s Shajji and Maya we’re talking about here. Shajji is about to be cornered and he doesn’t even know it, because he’s too busy planning a dreamy future with Shaan’s wealth. The moment will present itself when Maya decides to unleash her secret on the unsuspecting mother in law, who thinks she has it all figured out. “Your son in law is actually my ex” – the Maya reveal will be the jewel in the crown – Aha, now that’s a trump card if you call one!
But before that happens (in the next episode), just want to give a shout-out to Mikael and Saba for throwing us some super chemistry there. I mean, the dripping sarcasm, and the smug expressions coupled with Saba’s cool-as-cucumber exterior makes romance seem a whole different ball game. Let’s give it up for these two as we crave more moments of cheeky comebacks and a woman who is simply empowered, finally. Maya claiming to her mom-in-law that she has a rightful claim on her husband’s wealth was a welcome dialogue – no submissive doormat there and so refreshing to watch!
Fraud is going strong and working up to quite a climax. Shajji’s in for the ride of his life, and it could be one way, so keep watching!
Moving On To Meri Shehzadi
Meri Shehzadi now and Shehroz is certainly taking his two leading ladies in circles. So, funny that we have Daraar (1 man and 3 damsels), Wehshi (1 woman and 3 eligible bachelors) and then Meri Shehzadi where Shehroz has it all, but then again, has he? For now, he’s cajoled Dania into standing by his side though Cam’s a very different ball game. But his political astuteness is what every man would wish for – if only they all had a Shehroz in them (or do they?) to keep the peace in his female relationships!
But, this drama juts got a new lease on life as Dania chinned up and decided to follow her nani’s prescription of pretending all is well within her household! Ironically, she’s turning out to be exactly what the queen mother (Shahana) wanted of her, i.e. to keep up pretences – a key survival tactic of the royal household – say nothing! Shhhh
But does she realize she’s now become a bigger part of the family conspiracies than she signed up for? Is it love, sacrifice or a grand plan that’s making her stand by Shehroz’s side? All said and done, Shehroz wins this round, though I have to say Atiqa Odho as Shahana is hitting it out of the park in a role that fits her like a glove. She’s playing it unhinged, fully in character and yes, we are loving it!
Meri Shehzadi is therefore, the one to watch for sure, catch up on past episodes if you haven’t, they’re not that many, yeah speed up to 1.5 on YouTube because you can!
Lastly, Bakhtawar
And finally we have Bakhtawar aka Bakhtu’s saga. The drama is dragging its feet and Bakhtawar is being made out to be this James Bond female reincarnation who will solve all her problems single-handedly – more like a wizard really, even James Bond asks for help? But seriously, Dilawer should have been an accomplice, a confidante, in on the secret by now! How cool would that be as they both schemed together to overcome all the roadblocks and make a super team! Yeah, my vision of Pakistani dramas hitting different!
However, dream on, I say to myself, as Bakhtawar refuses to take any help, goes it all alone and soon gets discovered through Sheeda’s insidious revelation. Imagine Dilawer’s shock! Here I have to say, the script could have supported our wishes to give us the great reveal halfway through rather than throwing us a super naïve Bakhtawar who is trying hard to hide her secret from everyone, but playing right into the hands of her enemy. Taking Dilawer into confidence would have made a world of a difference.
Note to Inspector Mohsin: impersonation is a big deal, how can you allow this double dealing to continue on your watch, mutlab, why?
So Bakhtawar has taken a bit of a nose dive for me and I’m hoping for better days!
That’s all for this week then, keep watching as I attempt to bring you Farq and Agar next week. Agar and the older woman – younger man couple goals has me watching btw, but, can’t be said the same for Farq where I still can’t fathom Kamal with Irsa – would you?
Hard questions there, tell me if you’ve got the answers! Ciao and happy watching Joyland in cinemas soon, if you can.
