Amal in Dunk or Rafiq Ali in Raqeeb Se – Drama Characters throw us multi shades of grey, chhat ka romance, & a spiritual kinda love – 5 Drama Trends to watch out for this season – changing the game!

With some amazing dramas currently streaming on our screen, we have spotted a few new trends which are paving way or making a comeback. Let’s see what they are!
1. Chat & Gali Ka Romance Is Back With A Swag!
Whoever said that chat and gali ka romance were dead or old school needs to take back their words. Somethings stay on forever and this is one of them!
Whether it’s Rakshi & Aslam or Joya & Hamza, they brighten up our screens with their cute chhat wala romance! Aslam trying his best to catch a glimpse of Rakhshi, presenting her chooriyan & then being surprised by her father, all made for a light, romantic experience – puraane zamaane are not that puraane after all!

2. Chori Chhupe Dekhna
Larka following larki with some aankh mataka thrown in is the new (old) prem kahaani. Aslam following the school van was a tad too obvio for our reality filter, but what the heck, Pakistani dramas have gotten away with much more, so sit back & enjoy the aank macholi – it could be your way to unwind after a long day!
3. New Dynamics
Stories related in flashbacks & creatively, are giving us goose bumps.
This applies especially for Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi. The throwback segments to Allah Rakhi & Jamshed are so engaging that they keep us hooked to a gradually unfolding storyline – A smooth transition from the past to the present keeps the story deeply intriguing.

4. Love and Spirituality
Redefining love & romance, giving a deeper meaning & more soul to the concept of love is awakening our spiritual side.
With Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3, we expect to see an intense story of love and spirituality with Mahi and Farhad as the leads.
Alif was a love story of the soul, Kashf attempted to strengthen our connection to the divine and now KAM 3 is gifting us a larger than life love story to add the ‘spiritual’ in love! Slick direction from Wajahat Hussain with breathtaking overhead shots of Multan & a story that has raised expectations (what do you expect with Iqra & Feroze Khan together onscreen?) to super sonic levels – Khuda Aur Mohabbat, you have our attention!

5. And The Best For Last – There Are Shades Of Grey
Heroes & villains are no longer painted all white or all black, they have shades of grey.
Sana Javed as Amal for example, carries so many shades to her character. At one moment, we despise her and at another, we feel sympathy towards her. This love-hate relationship takes the drama experience to another level entirely! OFC Sana’s wordless gaze has a lot to do with the way we feel about her – a riveting watch indeed!

Saqib Sumeer as Rafiq Ali in Raqeeb Se has got to be one of the most interesting characters we have seen in a long time. Stories of his wrath and anger ruled the first few episodes, yet it was his humor and shenanigans that kept things going so kudos for gifting us a multi-layered character! Saqib has proved that you don’t need a whole lot of screen time to draw the crowds – it’s all about delivering impactful performances & he had the audience from the get go – well done there!
