Twitter Rejoices As Dua Zehra Returns To Karachi – A Step Closer To Home
The Dua Zehra case has been the talk of the nation for a few months and for all the right reasons too. Missing child, kidnapping, child marriage – the case deals with a lot. Dua’s father, Mehdi Ali Kazmi with all his blood, sweat and derermination, has been fighting for his daughter and her return. Media houses and netizens have been following the case very closely and finally, Dua is a step closer to home. Here’s what went on and the latest update on the case, in case you missed it.

Background Of The Case

On April 16th, Dua Zehra went missing in Karachi, near the Al-Falah area, when she went out and never returned home. Soon, the police and Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) worked the case in the hope to find and rescue her.
During this time, her father received ransom calls, after which, the police traced the numbers and the alleged suspected were taken into custody.
During Ramadan, Dua’s family appeared on Shaan-e-Ramazan and appealed to the authorities to help find their child. This case, hence, made waves and soon had the entire nation hoping and praying on Dua’s safe return home.
Meanwhile, 10 days later, Dua had been traced in Okara and we came to know that she had married Zaheer Ahmed, ‘of her free will’. This sparked outrage as this made it a case of not only kidnapping but also child marriage. DNA tests were carried out too, which proved that Dua was a minor, negating Dua’s statement regarding her age.
The Hurdles
Since day one, Dua’s father Mehdi Ali Kazmi has fought through the challenges. He proved Dua is a minor, attended court hearings, made press appearances. He was adamant that Dua had been kidnapped, all that she said on social media was forced by the people she was with and bringing her home was his number one priority.
Last week, on 16th July, a sessions court in Karachi stated that Zaheer (Dua’s alleged husband) and 24 other people were involved in Dua’s abduction. Soon Dua Zehra appeared before the court in Lahore and requested to be shifted to a Darul-Amaan as she was not on good terms with Zaheer and allegedly faced threats from her parents.
Shortly, a judicial magistrate in Lahore gave over Dua to the Karachi police, after which they transported her to Karachi and is currently with the Child Protection Bureau. She is set to appear before the court on 1st August 2022. Hoping for the best!
Twitter Applauds Dua Zehra’s Father

Not only Twitter, but the nation is in awe of Dua’s father, for his determination, drive and courage for taking on the challenges coming his way and fighting for his daughter. In Pakistan, many girls go missing yearly, some make it to the news, but very few cases are fought and see the light of day. Mehdi Ali Kazmi for a long time has been on top of his daughter’s case. His drive has been a prime example of a parent’s unconditional and relentless love and that a parent can go to any extents for his or her child.
Upon her return to Karachi, Twitterati applauded his efforts and is hoping for the best in the future too.
