Wabaal – The first episode catches your attention, lays the background and leaves you curious to find out more.
Well first of all, we have to say, it’s very refreshing to watch the three new industry entrants, namely Talha Chahour, Merub Ali and Muhammad Hunbal featured together in Wabaal along with Sarah Khan who takes on a totally new avatar – Great performances by all.
Highlighting Important Issues
Writer Qaisra Hayat stays true to herself by highlighting two important issues in the drama so far. One, the peer pressure that can push you to behave in a fake manner, lie and cheat. Second, the practice of lending money by individuals on unfair terms that can lead to financial paralysis of the borrower. Both themes are very relevant in today’s age and society.
Interactions between Talha Chahour and Sarah Khan were few and very short but total heart winners. They brought a smile to our face. It is nice to see both Talha and Sara Khan in totally different roles.
The first episode introduces us to the characters and what they’re all about, relates their present situation and leaves many unanswered questions in order to ensure one starts following the story.
Some Suggestions
A few things that we suggest the team to consider:
Watching a drama is an experience. We can only connect with a character or situation if it is close to reality. If you want us to believe something then make sure it is represented well.
If Anum’s (Sarah Khan) friends belong to a privileged class, they would definitely not be giving her a mere Rs. 5000 priced suit as a present.
And how come they have never been to Anum’s house?
How has Anum’s character been supporting such a rich and expensive lifestyle up until now?
Would her friends not notice that she doesn’t own a single branded thing?
4 grown up females in the swimming pool with their clothes on was not something that needed to be shown. That scene didn’t need to be inserted at all. Subsequently, they all sit at the dining table with the same wet clothes (that have magically dried somewhat) and hair. This ended up compromising (and damaged) the main message being communicated in the entire scene.
