When Irrfan Khan & Rishi Kapoor left us this week, little did they know that they left a piece of themselves behind in our hearts – forever!
Dear Irrfan & Rishi,
Rishi, it is with fond memories that we remember you lighting up the entire screen. We hummed to the lilting melody of Aankhon mein kaajal hai or sang along with Nazron se keh do… and then our mind raced forward to you Irrfan, the man who delivered flawless dialogues and made us teary-eyed for the lonely middle-aged executive in Lunch box, the carefree, yet deeply touching Qarib Qarib Singlle and the endearing Piku.

The world has lost 2 icons – you were both vastly different in your mass appeal and yet, vastly massive! You defined two consecutive eras, one with your trademark energy, love, and mood-lifting melodies, and the other, with stories that pushed the envelope and performances that were jaw-droppingly life-like. We could just walk into any of Irrfan Khan’s movies and know we’re experiencing real life… and we could simply walk out of real life for a 2.5 – 3 hour musical journey with Rishi Kapoor.
Such was your pull – 2 magnetic heroes that appealed to different sensitivities, yet within the same audience. We loved you. We loved to love you. We watched your movies on repeat and we smiled, laughed, cried and stood up to applaud you …
” When cowards die, there are no comets seen. But the heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.” – William Shakespeare
Both of you battled life onscreen and off, as a force to reckon with. You leave behind not only an indelible mark on cinematic brilliance … but a hard act to follow! Live on in our memories forever. You deserve that and more!
Thank you for giving us the best years of your life.
With Love from – One of the millions of fans who will miss you, and in whose heart you will live on forever!
