Directed by James Wan, the sequel to 2018’s Aquaman which to be noted, commendably stands as the highest-grossing DC movie of all time with a staggering $1.148 billion at the box office. Well, fans are elated that Jason Momoa is returning as the titular hero in Aquaman And the Lost Kingdom which is set to release in cinemas on December 20th. The film stars Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Nicole Kidman, Amber Heard and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II.
After a 5 year wait, the last DCEU movie which had been pushed multiple times due to Covid-19 delays and also underwent a series of reshoots is finally soon releasing. Director James Wann speaking to a Hollywood publication teased: “This movie has something to talk about [climate change], but it’s still a fun action-fantasy movie.”
Film Makers Talks About The Narrative
The film makers revealed the narrative of the sequel: “Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.”
However, without minimizing the movie’s trailer, there are a couple other reasons why Aquaman And The Lost Kingdom has been trending on Twitter since its trailer reveal yesterday. One of the reasons it has attracted attention is because it features Amber Heard. It’s her first major project after last year’s highly controversial and public, defamation trial between the actress and star, ex-husband Johnny Depp. During the trial, Amber Heard had claimed post the fallout from her divorce with Depp, her role in the sequel was considerably cut down which also led her to receive significant online harassment. We mean even Nicole Kidman is in the movie – is that no reason enough for it to be trending?
