A new coffee place has popped up to claim the name of THE IT Place in Karachi, so we visited June to find out if it really was an IT place or not. Read on to know our thoughts on the coffee place and what we ordered!

On a typical slow weekday afternoon, the place was buzzing! Clearly being the place to be? In fact, it may even be deserving of the title of Karachi’s “it” place. While on the lookout for the places to be, June popped up on our radar with its distinct name, fresh aesthetics and marketing, that piqued our interest. With the initial marketing quite minimal, almost secret, we finally went in to see what was it really like.
Located in Bukhari commercial, DHA the café has a considerable space both outside and the inside. Bright, lively and spacious, the café is one of Karachi’s most whimsical places to be. We loved the aesthetics, totally Pinterest and Insta-worthy. It seems to be the perfect place to go for photoshoots, late-night café vibes, or even a mid-day pick-me-up.
While it seems small from the outside, it has a lively and spacious interior. This includes unique art pieces and comfortable seating. There’s even a full selfie mirror and a book corner for bookworms which is stacked with film cameras. However considering it is an open area with plenty of floor space, it could use more seating.
As for the menu, we feel it is rather limited. Case in point: One team member wanted a mint lemonade and another wanted a caramel frappe, which are pretty standard drinks. Unfortunately these were not on the menu. The music being Gen Z’s most played songs, added to the general aesthetics and we appreciate its contribution to our experience.
The Artsy Ambience

Without leveraging any super bright colors, the place was bright, inviting and artsy. The spacious preppy vibes, the Gen Z aesthetics, with loads of character and a shade of teal blue that will freshen you up. With eccentric art pieces adding a lot of depth to the place. Also can we talk about those sofas and chairs, they literally looked right-out of our Pinterest pins, comfort and aesthetics = A+!
Service Standards
The service was good, the servers shared their best sellers with us on request and accommodated our changes and queries. The order also came relatively fast and was presented well. Though can we talk about the plastic straws? I mean not a make or break for many but paper straws would be doable?
Thoughts On Our Order
We ordered the June Iced latte (their specialty), Strawberry Frappe, Hot chocolate and an Almond croissant.
June Iced Latte – Saffron Infusion

While the yellow and delectable brown shades of the drink were new and appeasing, we were excited to see what their bestseller was about. What’s special about June’s version of iced latte” It’s made with saffron milk. Taste test? we were warned though that it might be strong and it was! The saffron doesn’t over power the coffee flavor but is distinctively sweet at first sip and then leaving a bitter after taste. If you like your coffee extra milky you will like this. Some team members even said its reminiscent of the kulfi flavor. Hmmm … don’t know if that would be your thing. But beware of a strong saffron flavor. Wasn’t our cuppa coffee but hey, might be for you!
Strawbbery Frappe – Super Pink

The strawberry frappe was obviously quite pink with strawberry seeds peaking through. Want to know what it tasted like? A strawberry milkshake combined with a mild dose of coffee. If you have a sweet tooth, it was quite sweet and will just be right. Some of our team members pointed out it was a classic childhood strawberry milk, no judgement here if you still like that though. But a frappe without whipped cream? That just makes us sad. It also tasted a bit syrupy so we won’t be ordering that one again … unless we crave something exxxxtra sweet!
Hot Chocolate – Classic Done Right?

Since one of our group really wanted some hot chocolate, that’s what we got. It was not bad, not powdery, but smooth. The chocolate and milk were in right proportion. We usually spot latte art in our caffeine picks, but the hot chocolate art was a surprising and welcome special touch. Though the cup size was a bit small (ungenerous), for when you are really craving it and maybe some marshmallows would have been nice because, after all, what is hot chocolate without marshmallows but the latte art compensates for the absence of marshmallows. It was the perfect blend of sweet.
Buttery Soft Almond Croissant

Good croissants might just be our weakness and the Almond offering at June was especially buttery, soft and melting at first bite. It wasn’t dry at all and was fresh! The slivered almonds on top were a nice addition. The croissant was sweet but barely sweet – the most subtle kind of sweet. If the chocolate croissant is too sweet for you, this will be just the right choice, without ruining the essence of croissants. The filling was absolutely yummy. Somehow this was the highlight of our “Coffee spot” visit and that croissant’s been on our mind since days.
Our Verdict On June
We would definitely go back again because of the vibe, the music, the books and because it is the IT place. But what we loved best? Had to be that almond croissant, we’re always up for seconds! Also we would like to try out more coffee flavors!
Let us know if you have been there or plan to soon!
