First Love?
Meenu thinking about Dr. Nofil and appearing distracted in class seem to be first signs of first love. Dr. Nofil trying to cajole her out of her anger, asking about her studies, apologizing to her later, tying up her hands by mistake, and later, surprised by her ability to memorize poetry – perhaps his first love, all seem to point at the beginnings of a sweet love story (or so we hope).
The Complex Circle Of Child Labour
Nasreen not backing down and withdrawing her complaint against Rani’s culprits reflects the courage and determination a woman and a poor person with no political influence, has to undergo if they want to seek justice. Malik Nadir asking her to settle out of court is just another way of exploiting her poverty – a dilemma many families must face when they meet with the same circumstances, hence completing the circle of child labour over and over again, where families never receive justice but are forced to accept monetary settlements in exchange for their silence.
Awareness On Hepatitis
Meenu’s brother diagnosed with Hepatitis was a painful twist of fate. The narrative was educational in that it had previously shown him using unsterilized syringes to inject drugs, a common and dangerous way of spreading the disease amidst our population.
Can Dr. Nofil treat Meenu’s brother successfully? This might help elevate his respect and regard in the eyes of her family. But is disease even treatable now? We are yet to find out.
Roshan’s Antics
Roshan makes us smile yet again with his amusing antics. His attempts to tighten the dhol, then tear off the string by mistake and find an instant jugaar with the shalwar drawstring made us laugh. Mubashir Mehmood is doing a superb job at keeping us entertained yet invested in his story.
