There are certain things that Tamasha hasn’t really gotten right over the past four seasons. As audiences, we’ve been noticing these issues since the very first season, but unfortunately, we haven’t seen much progress.
Reality TV shows are a huge phenomenon around the world. Different shows, different platforms, and different formats, but one thing the best reality shows do right is letting their contestants be original, creative with their gameplay, and simply be themselves. Tamasha has a lot of potential to do the same, but somehow falls short every year.
Here are a few things that Tamasha could do better this season, from a viewer’s point of view.
1. Limited Presence of Badshah
We understand that he’s the host of the show, the contestants’ mentor, and a senior in the industry, but that doesn’t really mean he needs to interfere every now and then in every small or big matter. The constant interference and not letting contestants fight their own battles honestly makes it hard to watch.
We want to see the contestants, their true personalities, who they really are, and how they react in different situations—not how they behave when someone is constantly guiding or dictating them. Badshah should be there to guide them, not show them the path and ask them to follow it.
I remember in Season 1 he used to come into the house in the middle of the night whenever something was off, especially if there was a fight or disagreement. That really shouldn’t happen. He should take a step back, sit back, and let the contestants run their own game, fight their own battles, and bring out their real personalities so the audience can decide who they genuinely want to support.
Also, at times, it feels like he’s just acting it all up.
2. Better Tasks and Games
From Season 1 to Season 4, we’ve been watching the same old games repeat themselves year after year, and honestly, it’s becoming exhausting and boring.
There is very little novelty, and sometimes it feels like there’s barely any planning. Some of the tasks are too childish when the Tamasha team is clearly capable of doing much better. They should introduce new and more challenging tasks this season.
We don’t want to see the card game again. We don’t want to watch contestants stealing each other’s cards all over again. The gameplay could have been much better even last year, but better late than never.
We want to see tasks that are mentally and physically challenging so we can truly see who is the strongest, smartest, and most determined contestant. Enough of the 10-card game.
3. Rule for One, Rule for All
“Rule for one, rule for all” is probably the most repeated sentence every season, but guess what? We never actually get to see it being implemented.
Instead, it often feels like Badshah picks and chooses his favourites and non-favourites and treats them accordingly.
We don’t want to see a narrative created by the team, a hero, a villain, and side characters. Let the audience decide that. Badshah should be the one voicing what the audience is thinking, but instead, he often appears selective, which doesn’t feel fair.
He needs to remain neutral, punish those who deserve it, and not simply let things go after hearing, “Sorry sir, it won’t happen again.”
Also, both Badshah and the team need to be careful about the messages they send. Standing firmly against something but then choosing not to punish the people involved is something viewers simply can’t understand.
We all remember the Zainab-Maham fight from last season. Badshah’s reaction was 100, but the outcome was 0.
4. Better Editing
The show also needs a better editing team because we’re often shown only very selective parts of the day. Most of the time, we don’t even understand why contestants are fighting because we’re missing the backstory.
The episodes need to be edited more clearly so the audience can properly follow the events, understand the context, and connect with what’s happening inside the house. Efficient editing tells the complete story. Right now, many important conversations, build-ups, and moments seem to be left out, making several conflicts feel confusing or incomplete.
Tamasha audience deserves a better and more engaging experience. With the new season set to kick off this weekend, we hope someone from the team comes across these suggestions and takes note. The show has all the potential to become one of Pakistan’s best reality shows, it just needs to listen to its audience and keep improving.
