Hira Mani, Mikaal Zulfiqar, and rising star Saif Ali Khan are coming together in Khafa, a new drama serial that promises a mix of romance, family feuds, emotional struggles, and everything in between.
Presented by Geo Entertainment and 7th Sky Entertainment, Khafa is another family-oriented story that may resonate with many viewers through its relatable characters, everyday challenges, and emotional journey. The drama is produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the banner of 7th Sky Entertainment. It is written by Rukhsana Nigar, directed by Irfan Aslam, and stars Hira Mani, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Saif Ali Khan, Uzma Hassan, Yousaf Bashir Qureshi (YBQ), Alee Hassan Shah, and more.
Hira Mani stars as Tazeen who is the eldest daughter and also the breadwinner of the family. She is a jovial, straightforward, and diligent young woman with one major ambition in life that is to make the dreams of her siblings come true. While she has the burden of looking after the house on her shoulders, she still manages to look at life positively and optimistically.
Mikaal Zulfiqar essays the character of Mohtashim, the son of YBQ’s character and the stepson of Uzma Hassan’s character. Although he belongs to a financially stable and wealthy family, he has never experienced a normal life since he didn’t have his mother’s love in his childhood. Growing up in a difficult environment with his stepmother has left him with emotional scars, yet he chooses to spread kindness, happiness, and positivity wherever he goes.
Next in line is the most interesting character in this story – Saif Ali Khan. Whether he is the hero or the villain, nobody knows. The teaser reveals his both grey, dark and positive aspects, leaving no scope for guessing what his journey will turn out to be. Is he a positive character who has some dark aspects? Or is he an evolving character? We don’t know it yet, but one thing is clear that he seems to be the greatest mystery of Khafa.
The plot, on its own, seems to emanate from the day-to-day realities of life, albeit in an uncommon way. It follows common people who face unusual emotional situations, whereby relationships are put to the test, sacrifices have to be made, and life takes some unusual turns. The teasers suggest that Tazeen will face several painful challenges that could change the course of her life.
Khafa – which means “upset,” “hurt,” or “resentful” – is an appropriate title for this drama because it captures the right mood. It suggests a story of misunderstandings, of broken connections, of disappointment, and even of emotional disconnect between people who love each other. Will the wounds mend or get deeper? Viewers will discover as the story unfolds!
Khafa premieres on 5 August and will air every Wednesday and Thursday at 8:00 PM on Geo Entertainment.
