And it’s a wrap this week on the drama stories that surprised, shocked or rocked your week. While we admit some didn’t rock that much, here are a few drama scenes that deserve a special mention!
1. Biryani
When Meeran and Nisa ventured in the narrow alleyways of Karachi on bike and took a fall as it skidded over uneven terrain, the scene was executed in true to life feels, from bot our hero and heroine falling to the ground, to the wet, muddy feels as their clothes bore witness to the fall. A well directed scene there, that helped amp up a simple incident into a relatable scene.
Nisa wearing Meeran’s collared shirt as she swapped her wet, muddy clothes for dry one gave a glimpse into a fleeting moment of young love. Nisa has just begun to feel that she has feelings for Meeran, and without use of dialogue or slo-mo scenes, the drama captured her feelings beautifully, taking a moment to pause as she takes it all in. It’s all happening so fast, the business project, the bike rides, the fall, the conversations and now this – Nisa in Meeran’s home, the feel of his clothes against her skin is a sensual awakening. Biryani teases yet keeps to the assignment – no cringe moments, just pure love! Ramsha Khan performed this one to the tee!
2. Dear Bestie
As this limited series draws to a close, the final episode brought a happy end to the stories of all three friends. However one scene stood out, and that was the three friends spending the night and listing their rule list for Ayra after marriage. These are the fears that every Gen Z has about marriage – our Bestie will change forever, she won’t have time for us, it will never be the same again. Dania and Iman made sure she made their friend sign a pact so that life after marriage always stays the same for this Besties group. The scene might have spun the story in a light-hearted mode, but the messages were loud and clear! Girls, don’t forget yourselves and your present relationships, (the ones that give you a lifeline whenever you’re down and out on life), when you step into a new one! Message taken.
3. Main Manto Nahi Hoon
Farhad and Manto saying it with a few kicks and punches opened the action sequence in MMNH. The scene did not use unnecessary slow motion or camera edits to spin the action – it was a raw-feel progression of events as Farhad chooses to strike with Mehmal and phoppo in the car, followed up by phoppo fighting Farhad more than once, followed by Mehmal’s attempt to flee and then Manto entering the scene. The almost 5-minute sequence from start to finish kept it believable and had viewers invested in the final outcome. What happens now is anybody’s guess but MMNH sure knows how to keep the action rolling.

Aerial shots are a thing and when done to perfection, they zoom in on the scene, making it larger than life. It was Farhad at it again, this time with his brother as he sped around the roundabout at full speed, threatening to keep going forever. The scene culminated with a face-off with Shamrez. Here too, the camera angles, Shamrez and Farhad staring each other down through the car windscreen, spoke volumes. Again, the camera zooming out to give us a bird’s eye view as Farhad’s car turns around to put an end to the stalemate at least for the time being, was a virtual sigh of relief-anticlimactic moment we all needed to witness.
