It’s that time of the week when we wrap up the old and step into the new episodes. Join us for a lookback to the drama scenes that made it to our list this week before the story moves on!

If Biryani is on your mind, and we’re not talking about the one with or without aaloo, then here’s a tribute to the dish…
1. Biryani and Mamoo’s Stories
When mamoo goes in story spiral mode, it’s qissa khwani at its best. This time, when he related Nisa the story of his chacha asking his Dada for advice, the dialogue was so engaging that we felt ourselves lean closer for the reveal. What was the third option for Fahim Ansari other than taking his life or the one before him? Javed Rizvi stepped into the skin of the storytelling as mammoo dropped it all in ‘masterclass’ expressions and tone that elicited a smile mingled with curiousity. What is mamoo upto next? And we soon find out!

2. Goonj: Zartash and Boss Flip the Conversation
When Zartash brings up Zarnab’s harassment complaint with her boss, the conversation took another turn. It wasn’t just about doubting Nabeel’s intentions; ‘is he really harassing Zarnab or that’s just the way he is with everyone,’ it was about his worth to the agency. How, if he is terminated, he will take all his accounts with him and that would be a huge loss to the company, how Zarnab, if not taken seriously, could make this into a bigger issue and hence, the company’s reputation might be at stake The conversation highlighted how harassment cases even in the most prestigious firms, might not be considered keeping the employee’s wellbeing in mind, but rather, more like a balance sheet weighing the company’s public image and business fallout.

3. Main Manto Nahi Hoon: Farhad showing up at the mazaar
Oh dear, Farhad is not coming slow. But here it was the interaction, conversation, dialogues, expressions and body language between all three; Farhad, Suraiya phoppo and Mehmal as well as the character placement, Suraiya in the middle, covering Mehmal while Farhad holds a steady gaze directed at Mehmal, seeing right through phoppo. Suraiya’s expressions changed swiftly, from unexpected fear, to blanketed anger and then, defiance, and that set the tone for this scene.
Well done team Main Manto Nahi Hoon for delivering a gripping drama moment.

4. Mohra and Alizay’s resounding slap she pretended never happened!
It wasn’t the slap, we’ve seen that countless times yeah? It was the instant denial from Alizay that caught our attention. What was she playing at? Does she know about Sikandar and Anooshay? Is she hiding more than she let’s on? But the way that interaction (slap) was denied instantly before Hamza and the rest of the people in the office showed up was a coverup we weren’t expecting.
Well done Mohra for delivering a scene that was totally unexpected.

5. Dear Bestie and a directorial win
While Dear Bestie has Gen Z invested in storytelling that is short, crisp and targeted at none other than the young at heart, this scene was a pause moment in direction that needs a shout out. When Iman typed out her article on Karachi’s Waste Management problem and the text flowed onto the screen, entirely legible, entirely coherent, it was an aesthetic treat to watch onscreen. It’s great to see a team deliver the fine details that go into telling a story and this one really popped!
Director Mehreen Jabbar deserves a shout out for bringing an otherwise mundane scene to life with imagination and creativity!

And that’s all from us folks. Drop us a comment if we missed some scenes you enjoyed and catch us next week on the same!
