To keep snacks wacky and trendy for us, chefs and food companies improvise and innovate what’s conventional. Most of these foods remain du jour because, well, we get bored a bit too fast. Nevertheless, one can’t deny that these foods do not fail to impress us so that we all try them at least once.
Take note of these food trends that have been, and will be, in the thick, in the year 2017.
Caffeine In A Cone Anyone?
The ever-increasing influence of Instagram has now revolutionized how you take your latte! The Grind Coffee Company in Johannesburg, South Africa, is magnetizing customers from all across the globe because of its ‘coffee in a cone’ special. Dayne Levinrad is the creative brain behind this mouth-watering serving of coffee in a chocolate-coated waffle cone.
‘We used the waffle cone as a way to become an Instagrammable product. When people come in, they take a selfie and tag #coffeeinacone,’ he stated in an interview.
So, are you up for a W-OFEE date?!
Poppin’ Pasta
Eating pasta just got a lot more amusing! After being home to the irresistible rainbow cake, Smorgasburg is now setting our taste buds ablaze with a doughnut that blends together the Italian and American culture. This is a baked spaghetti pie; made of leftover pasta and combined with eggs, cheese, and some classic red sauce.
If you find yourself in Williamsburg on Saturday, or at Prospect Park’s Breeze Hill on Sunday, then you just might want to pop a cheese-oozing, pasta doughnut down your throat.
Narsh-mallows
Nutella.
Marshmallows.
Drooling already?
This is one indulgent nutella-marshmallow sandwich that you can get creative with in your own way. Cushion the two magic ingredients between shortbread biscuits, chocolate chip cookies or two slices of French toast. And of course, slip in some bananas, strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, ice cream–whatever catches your fancy. This is super-quick and easy to make for all your late-night dessert crises, and you can also serve them at bridal showers or after a barbeque on your next camping trip!
Italian Going Desi
About time we added a desi touch to the traditional Italian pizza, don’t you think?
2017 has caught the world topping our tandoors with combinations of meat, cheese, veggies and jalapenos. Spice it up–or don’t: keep it healthy and organic. I mean, I really love a yoghurt and cucumber spread too.
The upside about the naan pizza is that it’s a quick fix. The downside? Don’t think there’s any when it comes to FOOD (Oh, except those calories…)!
Surprise, Surprise, Kit Kat Lovers!
This one will easily outdo everything else on this list. All you Kit Kat and non-Kit Kat fans (‘cause chances are you will become a fan very soon): Cake-stuffed Kit Kats are out and about! No kidding!
We owe this utterly chocolicious, what-dreams-are-made-of recipe to Yasumasa Takag, a Japanese patissier. According to reports, the new Kit Kat is described as a ‘soft and chewy piece of gateau chocolate cake inside the top layer’, and is termed as Chocolatory Gateau Mignon.
While we are super excited about the cakey chocolate, there is a flip side to it. It is only available in Japan–at least, for now–and that too exclusively at The Kit Kat Chocolatory store in Tokyo. Ah, we know the feeling…
Our pick of the month has got us applying for a visa to Japan! What can I say…there’s just something about chocolates we can’t seem to resist! What do you think you’ll try first?
