As the release date is around the corner, here are some fun facts about the potential 2020 Blockbuster:
1. Hercule Poirot & Agatha Christie
The Belgian sleuth first debuted in “The Mysterious Affairs at Styles” by Agatha Christie in 1920. Since then he has been noticeably present in 33 novels and 55 short stories.
Wow! What a busy life he’s had!
2. The first adaptation of the film was in 1978
In 1978, the film was directed by John Guillermin. It won an Academy Award for Best Costume Design, along with that it was nominated for two BAFTAS, Golden Globe Awards and the Edgar Award for best motion Picture.
Currently, this version of the movie can be streamed on Amazon.
3. Initial production started in 2017
In 2017, after the premier of “Murder on the Orient Express,” rumors about a potential sequel spread. Kenneth Branagh (the director and Hercule Poirot, himself) had later confirmed this and said the film was in its ‘pre-production’ phase.
In 2019, shooting started and the movie was shot at LongCross Studios, in England and the cast and crew travelled to Egypt to complete shooting.
Imagine the fun they must have had!
4. “Policy of Truth” features in the movie
The Depeche Mode song, released in 1990s plays in the movie. However, this version is a much slower remix of the original song. The overall tone and music totally go with the whole mood of the movie.
With its help, the suspense can be sensed just through the trailer (and screen of course)!
5. Quarantine helped! (yes, we know, unbelievable isn’t it?)
Director Branagh had so much time during quarantine, just like the rest of us, that he says he spent most of his time overseeing editing and did some of it himself too.
Due to the flawless editing, producers and people at 20th Century Studios absolutely love the film.
Now we can’t wait until 23rd October to see it for ourselves!
