Some dramas are worth revisiting because of nostalgia, while others deserve a second watch because it’s a new experience every time. Jhoom falls into the latter category.

Jhoom is produced by Abdullah Kadwani and Asad Qureshi under the production of 7th Sky Entertainment. It has been penned by Hashim Nadeem and directed by Ali Faizan. The drama stars Zara Noor Abbas, Haroon Kadwani, Usman Pirzada, Haris Waheed with an ensemble cast featuring Naureen Gulwani, Zainab Qayyum, Farhan Ally Agha, Javed Sheikh, Reham Rafiq, Ahmad Majeed Agloria, Haroon Shahid, Sidra Niazi among others.
With just 16 episodes, it’s a compact yet emotionally rich series that tells a complete story without unnecessary twists or endless fillers, making it an ideal weekend binge.
At the heart of Jhoom is the unconventional love story of Aryaan, a young man struggling with anger and emotional scars from his past, and Dr. Maryam, a compassionate woman who hesitates to embrace love because of societal expectations and the age difference between her and Aryaan. As they navigate family conflicts, heartbreak, sacrifice, and prejudice, the drama explores whether love can truly overcome life’s toughest obstacles.
Whether you’re revisiting your favorite moments or watching it for the first time, here are five reasons why Jhoom deserves a spot on your rewatch list.
1. It Challenges Age Stereotypes in Relationships
One of Jhoom’s most refreshing aspects is its portrayal of a romance between Dr. Maryam and Aryaan, where the woman is older than the man. Rather than making their age gap the main problem of the series, the story revolves around the traits that are important in a healthy relationship – trust, emotional compatibility, and mutual respect.
By treating their relationship with maturity and sincerity, Jhoom challenges the notion that age should define a couple’s compatibility. The drama doesn’t sensationalize the topic or use it merely for shock value; instead, it allows the love story to unfold naturally, making the age gap feel secondary. It’s a refreshing perspective that sets Jhoom apart from many conventional romance dramas and remains one of the strongest reasons to revisit the series.
2. A Story With Meaningful Messages
While romance drives the narrative, Jhoom also explores themes that make the story more meaningful. Aryaan is portrayed as a flawed but self-aware protagonist who struggles with anger rather than glorifying it, while Dr. Maryam is a strong, independent woman who never fits the stereotypical “damsel in distress” mold. The drama also touches on issues such as drug abuse, gun culture, emotional trauma, and the pressures young people face, giving its characters realistic challenges beyond their love story.
Another standout element is the emphasis on healthy relationships, whether it’s friendship, family, or personal growth. Instead of relying on overused tropes like toxic in-laws or extramarital affairs to create conflict, Jhoom keeps its drama rooted in believable situations and genuine emotions.
3. Visually Stunning Cinematography
Jhoom stands out for its cinematic visual appeal. From wide landscape shots and scenic outdoor locations to its polished production quality, the drama has a film-like aesthetic that elevates the viewing experience. Every frame is thoughtfully composed, making it the kind of series that’s perfect for a cozy weekend binge with some popcorn. The drama also makes excellent use of Karachi’s unique geographical location, incorporating seaside views and recognizable landmarks to create a picturesque backdrop for Aryaan and Dr. Maryam’s story. It’s this seemingly small yet creative directorial approach that offers Jhoom audiences polished, immersive feel from beginning to end.
4. Credible Action Sequences
Another standout feature of the drama is the well-executed action sequences throughout the storytelling, something that you don’t see very often on Pakistani dramas screens. Whether it is Aryaan’s physical combat scene with Sherry and his groupies in the chai dhaaba or any other action scene later in the story, the execution seems very real and adds intensity to the plot.
5. All Round Performances
The performances are another reason Jhoom remains an enjoyable watch. Both the lead pair and the supporting cast bring sincerity to their roles, making the characters feel believable and emotionally engaging. Zara Noor Abbas once again proves why she’s one of the industry’s most dependable performers, while Haroon Kadwani delivers a water-tight performance as the soft-feel hero who is simultaneously engaged in an inner struggle with his demons. Together, they share an effortless chemistry that makes Aryaan and Dr. Maryam’s unconventional love story easy to invest in.
Sometimes, it may be the ensemble cast that may require motivation. However, it must be admitted that Ahmad Majeed Agloria as Sam, Reham Rafiq as Tina, Naureen Gulwani as Mahlab, Haris Waheed as Sherry, and Usman Peerzada as Touqeer, all made commendable efforts to contribute something meaningful to the story. They made the narrative more interesting, yet again demonstrating that an excellent supporting cast makes or breaks the story.
We recommend you give this one a watch for all the right reasons!
