This week, some drama scenes gave us great dialogues, performances and attention to detail. And just for that, they need a rewind and special mention, so here we go, read on!

Last week wasn’t the best in terms of drama scenes that stood out. Many dramas are nearing the end, and some just aren’t cracking enough to get us invested, but this week’s a whole new game. Catch the scenes that deserve a place in drama scenes of the week, starting with, Behroopia!

Mikayel, or Kabir, or Junaid, or taimoor, whochever one it was, or all of them, finally visited the therapist. The conversation was revelationary as the therapist asked him, “Which one am I meeting today?” throwing him a bit off guard as she proceeded to list all of his personalities and then inquired if they would share Mikayel, his dominant personality with others?
Finally we get a therapy session that left a mark and also revealed to us that the therapist is therap-ping as she should. Have Pakistani dramas finally got it right?
2. Behroopia scored two goals as Zara jumped out of a moving car!

It is seldom that we see a character in Pakistani dramas jump out of a moving car, full on action, and it hits right. When Zara jumped out of Mikayel’s car to escape the ‘scene’, yes, pun intended there, it was a well-executed scene – believable and fast-paced. Whether the makers used a stunt or Madiha Imam did the honors or the camera rolled out a perfectly well put together escape, doesn’t matter which one it was, the credit certainly goes to the makers for pushing the envelope and going the extra mile. Well done there!
3. Fizza khala and Kabir mamoo’s (not so secret) family secret is out!

The scene we were waiting for finally arrived. When Fiza and Kabir discovered that they were alredy related through their families. Appreciation for the makers for making this one so real, not giving in to unnecessarily sensationalizing the meeting with long drawn out music and slow mo close-ups of the characters’ expressions. We know it was a shock for Kiran, and the rest, but the scene was executed with great sensitivity.
Kiran does not make a scene. She walks out quietly but also stands her ground with Kabir mammoo, gently, yet firmly. Well done on the overall performances and subtelty of the scene. This is what made it hugely relatable and impactful.
4. Parwarish mother-daughter conversation

Wow and just wow for the way Sadia asks Maya about Wali and yet, parents her in the gentlest yet wisest way possible. We often hear the phrase that a mother is a dighter’s best friend, but in this scene, we saw how it’s done. From schooling Maya not to be alone with Wali, to reminding her of her dream to become a doctor, yet, letting her know she is trusted by her parents and that she (Sadia) is confident of her choice in Wali as a life-partner – Sadia covered everything that a mother-daughter conversation needs – love, trust, understanding and wisdom.
The script, performances and scene makers must be applauded for saying in a Pakistani drama, what has never been said before!
5. Aania’s self-harm discovery

When Amal discovers cuts on Aania’s arm, a sign of self-harm many young people might inflict upon themselves, it was again, a truth moment that disturbed the onlooker, (and it was meant to) yet, was crucial in bringing home a reality that many of us do not address often enough. The run up to the scene, how Amal attempted to wake up Aania and then write on her arm was great execution. A shout out to team Parwarish for giving us a first in Pakistani drama scenes!
We hope the moment spreads awareness and educates many who might know someone or are themselves, struggling with mental health or depression.
6. Jahangir and Mahnoor’s conversation, or the lack of it!

Jahangir and Mahnoor struggle with communication. But what is great about the storytelling, is how a different aspect of their relationship is highlighted in every episode. This time, Jahangir complains that Mahnoor is not able to think as his (Jahangir’s wife) but more as Wali’s mother. The truth must have hit home for many couples who argue over their teenager’s life choices, defending one or the other and simulatenously, hurting their own relationship as a couple.
The communication breakdown between Mahnoor and Jahangir is real, and dialogues between these two hold a deeper meaning than mere surface level brawls. So pay attention as things get worse before there are any chances of them going on the mend!
