The drama scenes that impressed us this week are back and before you slip into the stories next week, sit back and relive the moments once more that had us invested in the past few days.

1. Goonj
We loved Zarnab turning back to ask Nabeel what exactly he meant by that taunting remark he passed to his colleague right within hearing distance of her, of course, to make sure she hears it and it gets under her skin.
Both Komal Meer and Mirza Gohar Rasheed played up to the scene; Gohar in the flippant body language and off-the-bat remarks from Nabeel that always push the right buttons on Zarnab (where he wants them to), and Komal in the count-to-10 under your breath expressions and then Zarnab finally having no more of it and turning on her heel to confront Nabeel.
Well played you both!

Khalid Anam as the girls’ father in Goonj is adding charm and all-heart to the role as he tears up at the dining table, telling the girls their happiness means the world to him. Pakistani dramas have seen the tender girls’ dad moments play out often, but one who goes above and beyond and caters to their every need; from pulao at dinner to fried eggs at breakfast and yet not injecting the typical Pakistani drama dad ‘fear factor’ to their lives is just such a relief to watch.

2. Main Manto Nahi Hoon
Farhad and Manto gazing at Mehmal as Maria cuts the cake, caught in one frame, is a directorial win that needs applause, just like these two clapping right now. What proceeded with the cake plate, the hand grab and the push to the floor were all rapid action moments with performances from Sajal aly, Azaan Sami Khan and Humayun Saeed that made this scene a gripping watch.
So many emotions in a brief moment; fear, anger, arrogance and shock captured all together made it the showstopper of the episode.

Speaking of Main Manto Nahi Hoon and Farhad and Ifra’s moment. Farhad laying on the insult, by telling her how easy she is as opposed to Mehmal, then pushing her and flipping instantly, Ifra realizing she’s being played, her inner wrath surfacing – a spectrum of emotions played out to full intensity.
Both Hajra Yamin and Azaan Sami Khan delivered performances that kept it strong!

3. Shirin Farhad
Shirin Farhad draws the curtain on the final episode and this scene caught our hearts as Farhad takes the helm and finally gets his shot at direction. The background score, with a storyboard that trangressed over time to take us on an emotional journey one last time, was just what we needed to cap the moment. The sepia-toned frames did the job to deliver a vintage throwback and director Asad Mumtaz nailed the aesthetics in this scene to give us a prize culmination of Farhad’s journey.

4. Parwarish
Samar Jafri as Wali at the graveyard, the anger and helplessness that engulfed him evoked the deep sense of loss he felt on losing Boss – his mentor, companion and now that he realizes it, ‘father figure.’ A powerful performance that spoke volumes.

Abul Hassan as Sameer and Saman Ansari as Panah stole our hearts as they navigated a tough conversation. Mothers always forgive, mothers care, and so do sons – it’s just that they don’t say it often enough. Sameer’s repentance has come full circle and he can’t get on in life without Panah’s blessings, which he has now! A smile moment for all the mother-son relationships, keep at it just like these two – handing out lessons for life by communicating with each other!

Wali gazing up at Boss when he realizes he’s gone, and then the frame transitions to a flashback where Wali is sitting at Boss’s feet earlier, listening to him from a similar angle – the scene was not just powerful but took us right inside Wali’s head at that very moment in time – a haze of emotions, memories and helplessness that cloud one’s vision when the person who means so much to you just left, and there’s no coming back.
Although we knew Boss is about to bid us farewell, this moment brought it all together in a deeply moving scene. Shout out to director Meesam Naqvi and Samar for great execution and performances.

5. Sher
When Sher enter his home, it’s a moment we were waiting for since many episodes. We sense revenge in the air, but his comeback was surreal for all the players especially Badar Zaman and sons who thought they’re rid of him forever – an impactful moment in the drama that has us curious for what’s up next in the story with great anticipation.

And that’s it for drama scenes this week folks. Tell us if we missed some and drop us a comment to let us know which scene you loved the best!
