Zaid doubting Ayra again makes us question – were they actually in love, did they really know each other? A girl who never took advantage of his privileged background to even get herself a job, how can he doubt her integrity. Not just on one level, Zaid disappoints us on multiple levels in Mein.

Confused Zaid!
“Bata dena us larki ko keh tum sirf Zaid ho, Zaid Asif nahi. Aur phir pata lage ga keh wo tumse mohabbat karti hai ya tumhaare status se.” Zaid recalling this dialogue uttered earlier by his father to him after Ayra refused his offer to marry her now makes us disappointed in Zaid – yet again!
How can Zaid expect Ayra to agree to marry him while he is still married to Mubashira? Instead of understanding the reasons behind Ayra’s decision to move to Sukkar, instead of realizing that Ayra’s self-respect would never allow her to be completely dependent on him, doubts about Ayra’s loyalty to him have started clouding Zaid’s judgment. Also, how can he expect Ayra to fully believe him or count on him, given what has happened in the past, given how easily Zaid becomes influenced, just like he is becoming at present.
Ayra Seeking Revenge
Looks like Ayra is not going to let the situation rest that easily. Even if Zaid cannot do anything about it, she won’t move ahead without making his family pay for what they did to her brother and her family. Her demand that: “Your family must ask for my hand” is her way of making them submit to her will, and in a way, exact any small revenge she can. She is the girl they dismissed as someone insignificant, and now they will be coerced into asking for her hand in marriage for Zaid.
Mubashira Needs To Dive Back Into the Story!
With each passing episode Mubashira’s character is becoming more and more irrelevant. Her line “Mein Mubashira Jaffer hoon” is approaching meme status. The line holds zero impact and zero value now. If her character had been shown planning some strategic conspiracies, or even at least actively involved in fighting her situation, her role in the dramatic turn of events around her would be a little more impactful. Presently, all she does is throw a tantrum and has lost viewers’ sympathy or interest in the process.
Zaid on the other hand is probably the most confused character in Mein. He cannot figure out things rationally, is quick to change his mind and lacks the clarity, coherence and courage to take a stand for what is right. Why can’t he just divorce Mubashira and marry Ayra? Why is he dragging the situation unnecessarily? Why did he want his father’s permission to marry Ayra?
To top it all, Kashmala is pregnant and driving Mubashira crazy with her good news.
