Aur The Band is a Pakistani band formed in 2020 by Usama Ali, Ahad Khan, and Raffey Anwar who have managed to become a quick favourite among Pakistani music fans. Singers, composers, and producers of the viral fan-favorite song “Tu Hai Kahan”, the song that has crossed 95 million views on YouTube, trended on instagram reels, videos and secured a top spot on many listener’s playlists in Pakistan and beyond. The band was previously known as Uraan but is now known as Aur.
Aur The Band’s music is catchy and upbeat, with lyrics that are both relatable and thought-provoking. Their viral songs, Dooriyan, Chehray and Sometimes have garnered them a large number of fans. The band released their debut single “Tu Hai Kahan” in 2021. The song was a hit in Pakistan and helped to launch the band’s career. They’re known for its blend of R&B and Hip Hop.
They came in to FUCHSIA HQ to talk more about their journey, concept behind their music and the inspiration behind Tu Hai Kahan. A story so inspiring, the journey of these 3 young boys is heartwarming and one you should know more about.
An Introduction To The Boys & More On How They Grapple With Their Newfound Success
They say they are still not able to believe and comprehend all that has happened, what they have accomplished and continue to even after months. They say they haven’t even had time to celebrate yet and will remain busy till march.
Raffey is the one who manages the production, artwork, mixmaster, promotions, while Usama and Ahad are the writers, poets, lyricists and singers. While Ahad and Usama have been childhood friends, they met Raffey through their music venture and bonded well. They feel their bond is safer and truer than most friends and brothers. The boys are fond of poetry, writing, and are glad their vibes matched.
Ahad and Usama say they realised, a couple years ago how they potentially had something special, a sort of knack and talent, so they started working on their writing process. In 2016, they put up their music on YouTube and they credit their initial guiding force, their tution teacher; Sir Obaid who helped them refine their writing.
The boys revealed, it took them 6 months to save up the money to record their first song! Their resilience and dedication is really inspirational.
Why Did They Have To Change The Band’s Name From Oraan To AUR
Someone from their concert put up a video titled “Uraan the band” but their band name was just Uraan. This led to the person who was actually using and had taken the username ‘Uraan the band’, to call them out for earning money in his name. The said individual asked them to pay him for the next 9 months, threatened them and then eventually wiped out all their songs and it hurt the boys more because they were their top trending songs.
It was like a dream soon turning out to be a wonderful reality, shattering for them. Because the next day their picture and profile was going up on the global giant, music streaming app, Spotify. They also had an ongoing deal in negotiations with their label and somebody wiped all their songs.
“We were changing the name anyway but the guy was threatening us, so we went live and announced we are leaving music but then our audiences/fans supported us – and soon the guy messaged us you can change your name, he left us alone and then matters resolved.”

What They Credit Their Success To…
All 3 boys struggled but continued to dream and work hard to make it big, earn a name while earning through various other jobs on the side. They wished one day, when they sing, 10,000 people would sing along with them at their concerts and now that has happened for them. “Ab jab concert hua tou people stood with bouquets and artists we wanted to take pictures with, now call us for work collaborations.”
They say their most cherished moment is when kids come to their concerts and sing along word to word. They also pointed out that uniqueness in music is necessary! What according to the band helped them in persevering and becoming a success story despite their journey collectively and individually being incredibly difficult, was because of the faith and trust they have had in each other. They all worked to sustain their hobby, they didn’t depend entirely on their families. Now they say they feel immensely proud, when they are able to give their parents a lifestyle they dreamed of.
A Tinge Of Disappointment When It Comes To The Pakistani Industry & Fans
For their most hit song – Tu Hai Kahan, they initially thought they didn’t get a good response but it soon started trending on Facebook, then Instagram but they wanted to see it trend on YouTube, and soon it did globally!
Though they shared that they have received considerably more appreciation from India and not as much at home in Pakistan. They feel a little sad to not be receiving as much acknowledgement or even support from the industry and audiences at home.
What Are Their Plans For The Future?
Ahad, Usama & Raffey from AUR say, there’s lots more to come. A fresh new song in December, concerts, more global music hits! “Bohat kuch unexpected anay wala hai.” But their dream remains to work with Atif Aslam, Young Stunners, Drake and Travis Scott.
If you are a fan of Pakistani music, then you should definitely check out Aur The Band. They are a talented and promising group that is sure to have a bright future in the music industry.
