Finally, Jaisay Aapki Marzi gives us some moments that are worth mentioning and much needed in today’s world. The most endearing part was to see how the family has come around to support Aleezay. How will Aleezay’s pregnancy affect the whole situation?

A Father’s Support
Ehteshaam Sahib’s focus and unwavering support for his daughter has made us overlook all the character’s earlier absurdities. His dialogues around the message that in some months’ time, she will be okay, start working and earning her living was a heart-winner. The belief he had in his daughter and that he did not think that just because her marriage didn’t work out, she will not be able to financially and emotionally support herself was a winning thought for sure.
Sherry’s father realizing his mistake was also a good thing as it brought in a human factor and a touch of relatability. Sometimes, some family members do not encourage abuse, but stay silent and do not speak up against him. He finally realizes Sherry should change. It was interesting to see that the minute he became strict with Natasha, reminding her that the house belongs to him, Natasha backed off a bit. Was Aleezay justified in her behavior towards him or did he deserve slightly better treatment?
Sherry’s Shift
It would have been hard to relate to the shift in narrative if Sherry was shown changing overnight, so we are glad the drama portrays that while he hasn’t changed, he is genuinely missing Aleezay and has started to question his actions. This could have actually led him to change earlier if it had not been for Natasha’s brainwashing and encouraging his narcissistic behavior.
Disappointing Meerab
Meerab was a disappointment. He is not willing to leave Natasha because of her money but also wants to marry someone else for the peace and happiness he wants in his marriage. If he thinks there is any way Natasha will change or accept his 2nd marriage, he is wrong. She will ensure that both him and his wife are miserable.
Why and how can Aleezay help Shaina, when she is dealing with so much herself. A well-rounded conversation between them would have been more apt, or maybe, once Aleezay had recovered or started moving on in life, it would make more sense. We got to see a true-to-life representation when Aleezay feels low, then she is a bit okay, but then not okay, rather than showing her completely broken by the trauma.
Aleezay’s Challenges
Someone like Aleezay who had a great job, excelled at what she did and was the star employee of her company, for her to wonder how she’ll raise her child seemed strange. For her to be in pain of betrayal, sadness due to her marriage breaking down, makes sense, but for her to wonder about raising a child alone and supporting her ageing parents didn’t fit in. If she had continued being married to Sherry, who would have supported her parents?
The drama writers can maybe not feel the need to add extra elements to make life more challenging, or to evoke sympathy for that character. As mostly, a situation like divorce, abuse and betrayal itself, presents a set of challenges which are powerful enough to make audiences sympathize with the character.
