Should the lawyer have advised Aleezay to rethink her strategy, indirectly implying to fight for her rights, which led her to go back to Sherry?
Should a woman be sent back into an abusive relationship to fight for her rights or rights for her children?
Should a woman accept an abusive relationship or make a compromise for her children?
How will children raised in such households turn out? Will there be more Sherrys?
Can we guarantee that the children will not be exposed to, and fall victim to Sherry’s narcissism?
Storytelling And Plot Dilemmas
Was the drama showing that Aleezay made a mistake by going back and shouldn’t have done so? But in real life, how many women are able to regain their past composure and stay strong after returning to an abusive relationship?
Could the script have served more justice to the cause by maintaining the strength of Aleezay’s character through her choosing not to go back and trust herself instead, to be able to be a reliable and responsible parent for her child too? This, given how the drama portrayed her in the beginning?
Shouldn’t a girl with Aleezay’s intellect and persona, have the sense to not endanger her child by exposing him to an abusive relationship?
Was it an act of seeking revenge from Sherry and his family?
Aleezay’s POA…?
If Aleezay was returning with an aim to secure her child’s financial future, which she considers her child’s right, that should have been shown as Aleezay’s inner thought process and reason to return briefly to achieve this aim. Since she clearly didn’t return to Sherry to lead a happily married life with him. And she was aware, as she mentioned to her father-in-law, that having him as a father would not be the right option for her child.
This plan, she should have communicated to her parents and sister too, who were really and rightfully worried for her.
However, it all still comes down to her physical safety, living in the same house as Sherry. This move was one that most if any abuse victim would find very far-fetched, from real life situations.
Second Chances Don’t Come Easy?
Why should an abuser be given a second chance unless he has shown some change through therapy or his actions?
Well, All Was Not Lost Maybe…
The drama addressed how in-laws should realise their responsibility towards daughters -in-law. How they are also humans and daughters of someone else. Their rights must be protected too.
The drama also called upon the responsibility of a father-in-law or a mother-in-law towards their “bahu”. Their support can change the household dynamics tremendously. They can do their bit by raising their voice and choosing to do the right thing. Aleezay’s conversation has made her father-in-law realise that she was right and Sherry cannot be trusted as a responsible parent for his grandchild. He will most probably transfer some of his wealth in Aleezay’s name.
Last but not the least, it is essential to conduct some research and thoroughly analyze the messages being sent out in matters of marital and emotional abuse.
