Netflix’s ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ is set to release on May 1st, and the red carpet event for this highly anticipated and supremely lavish web series took place last night in Mumbai. Here’s a glimpse of all the mega stars who graced the red carpet!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “passion project” nurtured over an impressive 14-year period, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar epic saga unfolds against the backdrop of Heeramandi, Lahore, a bustling red-light district predating the Partition of the Indian subcontinent.
Heeramandi’, an 8 part web series, dives deep into the juicy stuff – love, betrayal, power plays, and political drama, all set against the vibrant backdrop of kothas, the secret world of courtesans. It is boasting a stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Farida Jalal, Fardeen Khan, Taha Shah Badussha, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman.
Bhansali is known for his lavish visuals in films like “Devdas,” “Padmaavat,” “Bajirao Mastani” and “Gangubai Kathiawadi,” and the “Heeramandi” trailer is in keeping with that. Talking about the web series, Bhansali said, “This is a story of love, power, freedom, and extraordinary women, their desires, and struggles. It marks a new milestone in my journey. In Netflix, we found the ideal partner —- one who not only shares our love for storytelling but also possesses the unparalleled capability to bring our series to the most diverse and global audience imaginable.”
The project is finally releasing on Netflix this coming Wednesday after much anticipation! However, Bollywood has already had its dazzling, star-studded red carpet premiere. The glamorous event was made even more enthralling by the presence of several stars, including Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Karan Johar, Ananya Panday, Rashmika Mandanna, Mrunal Thakur, and many more.
The Cast & Crew!
Alia Bhatt, Neetu Kapoor & Soni Razdan
Alia Bhatt made a stunning entrance, exuding sheer elegance in a design by Seema Gujral. By the looks of it, she paid ode to being Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Ganugbai with a pearlescent white and dusty pink sharara set adorned with delicate white embroidery. Accompanied by her mother and mother-in-law, Alia radiated style alongside them. Soni Razdan embraced ethnic chic in a turquoise kurta with vibrant motifs, while Neetu Kapoor exuded boss lady vibes in copper pants paired with a black blazer and a gold choker.
Farida Jalal Makes A Rare Appearance
Bollywood veteran, icon, Farida Jalal, who is also a part of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming Netflix series Heeramandi, attended the screening in Mumbai last night and the pictures from it are a sheer delight. Fans of the actress are overjoyed with this rare appearance of hers and say they feel great to see her again though the actress seemed naturally frailer, as she walked the red carpet with support from her loved ones.
Mrunal Thakur
Actor, Mrunal Thakur too opted for a pristine white look. Wrapped in a simplistically whimsical white saree designed by Mrunalini Rao, featuring a scalloped border, she completed her look with a fabric gold handbag.
Karan Johar
Karan Johar entered the carpet event with Ananya Panday. He was all suited up in classic black and white look and his complete classy self for this grand premiere.
Sonakshi Sinha
The fierce Fareedan aka Sonakshi, who will be seen in the series, gave us a rather minimal black and gold look. The actor opted for a black and gold polka dot saree with her hair up in a sleek bun and some dazzling jhumkas. (The saving grace of the look)
Ananya Panday
In her royal blue sleeveless suit, with gajra in her hair, Ananya looked absolutely resplendent. She completed the look with red jhumkas, bangles and a minimal makeup look. Simply regal!
Salman Khan
Bollywood’s Bhaijaan Salman made a splash on the red carpet, as he experimented in his black shirt paired with white pants which featured Dragon Ball Z characters. A fun surprise for anime fans and a rare edgy, quirky and stylish look for the Bhaijaan.
Rekha Ji
The breathtakingly beautiful Rekha ji once again redefined timeless glamour and beauty in her gold organza tissue, ethnic saree. Only she can pull off this all gold look so exuberantly!
Rashmika Mandanna
Dubbed as the national crush by Indian media, Rashmika Mandanna stood out from the crowd in terms of her outfit’s colour selection, a refreshing break from all the whites, golds and blacks. The Animal star looked pretty as ever in a sea-green suit featuring net detailing. She completed the look with chandbali earrings and flowy, open hairstyle.
Which of these was your favourite looks and how excited are you for the web series on 1st May? Though our excitement seems to be a bit dampened by the underwhelming trailer. Maybe the actual 8 part series will be much more interesting and power packed? We can hope!
