A significant portion of our Pakistani audience is currently watching the drama serial Noor Jahan, which depicts shocking plots, including some cases where a mother-in-law is not ready to accept her unborn granddaughter. Some viewers question the realism of such scenarios, wondering if they ever happen in real life. Unfortunately, real-life incidents can be just as brutal, if not more so. In Jaranwala, a horrifying incident unfolded where a husband, committed a murder, highlighting the legal, religious, and social brutality of such acts.

Pakistani drama critics often complain that our stories are majorly regressive and highlight unnecessary domestic abuse, depicting disturbing content that sets dangerous examples in a society riddled with misogyny and marital abuse. Therefore, it is relevant to ask how far some Pakistani drama narratives might be mirroring real-life scenarios. These narratives reflect the deeds that leave women always at the receiving end of tragic crimes perpetrated by their own partners, fathers, brothers, or even sons. Often, another woman, such as a mother-in-law, instigates these tragic actions against women.
For instance, the Pakistani drama Noor Jahan horrifically mimics real-life events in this news story. In the drama, Safeena was pushed to the ground by her husband, Hunaid, who couldn’t bear the reality of his wife being pregnant with a baby girl. This terrible action too, in a way, instigated by none other than his mother.
Tragic Incident That Took Place In Jaranwala

Nadeem, along with his brother-in-law Phool Abbas, subjected Aimen to severe physical abuse using sticks and fists. Aimen Fatima was already a mother to two daughters. Following the ultrasound report, Nadeem and Phool violently attacked her, causing fatal injuries. After committing the heinous act, both men fled the scene. However, under the directives of CPO Faisalabad, the Khurrianwala police launched a swift operation. The police managed to apprehend the suspects within 24 hours, ensuring a quick response.
The police spokesperson confirmed that they have registered a case against the culprits. Nadeem Sajjad and Phool Abbas will face serious charges, including the murder of Aimen Fatima and her unborn child. Authorities revealed that before the murder, the suspects brutally tortured Aimen, causing her several internal and external injuries.
It was just yesterday when we received the news of Sania Zehra, a 20-year-old mother of two, allegedly killed by her husband. Now, this tragedy has struck Aimen Fatima. How many more Sanias and Aimans must suffer before justice prevails?
