From gripping plot twists to stellar performances, these shows and films are sure to leave an impression.
Let’s dive into the top December releases that you won’t want to miss!
Shows To Binge
1. Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum

In Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum, Hania Aamir as Sharjeena and Fahad Mustafa as Mustafa light up the screen in a heartfelt story of love, sacrifices, and second chances. The drama explores the complexities of relationships, where love often battles ego, misunderstandings, and societal expectations.
The drama strikes a balance of classic romance and modern storytelling, resonating deeply with audiences who enjoy emotionally gripping stories. Personally, I absolutely love the way they have shown the seven stages of love—attraction, affection, love (ishq), reverence, worship, obsession, and life. They turned the last one beautifully, didn’t they? Whether you’re here for the chemistry between the leads or the engaging plot, this is one drama you just can’t miss!
2. Call Me Bae

What can we say? For once, we felt Ananya’s presence onscreen. She really embodies Bae, giving the critics the answer: ‘She can and she will.’ Personally, I stepped into the show with zero expectations, thinking, ‘Hmm, maybe it’s rain rot. Better have it just casually playing in the background while I work.’ But there was something that had me hooked.
Bae, a wealthy fashionista, has her world shattered as she is disowned by her husband and family. She must now navigate life without the ultra-privileges, relying on her wit, charm, and a newly found sense of purpose. The show brings a comedic, yet realistic take on personal growth and self-worth. Bae’s struggles are relatable and serve as a gentle reminder to take our life into our own hands.
The cast also includes Gurfateh Pirzada, Vihaan Samat, Varun Sood, Muskkaan Jaferi, and Niharika Dutt. You can stream the show on Amazon Prime.
3. The Gentlemen

Directed by Guy Ritchie, The Gentlemen stars Theo James as Eddie Halstead, who unexpectedly inherits his father’s estate. But surprise, surprise—he discovers that the estate is home to a lucrative underground marijuana business. Unwillingly, he steps into this criminal world, full of suspense, betrayal, and action. There are some LOL moments too, so it’s not only serious drama. This one had my attention from the very first episode, and here’s a little secret: Instagram edits got me on it!
In true Guy Ritchie style, the show is full of dark humor, witty yet sharp dialogues, and dynamic storytelling. The adrenaline rush is real! The series is inspired by the 2019 film The Gentlemen, which stars Matthew McConaughey. Theo, along with Kaya Scodelario, Daniel Ings, and others, brings the perfect watch on Netflix.
FYI, The Gentlemen comes with trigger warning, it’s for the light-hearted – it’s got violence, drugs, bloodshed, weapons. We recommend it but watch it at your own risk.
4. The Perfect Couple

First impression: star-studded! The Perfect Couple cast ensemble includes Meghann Fahy, Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Dakota Fanning, and Ishaan Khatter. The romance, thriller, and mystery show, based on Elin Hilderbrand’s novel, follows the story of a high-society wedding where everything that can go wrong… does go wrong.
The complex human nature, web of relationships, and hidden motives had me glued. The second I would think, “Oh, I know who it is,” another incident would happen, and the guessing game would start again. For those who enjoy these genres, this is a treat for you, so head over to Netflix now.
5. Lincoln Lawyer

Struggling to find the right legal thriller? This one’s for you. Adapted from Michael Connelly’s novels, The Lincoln Lawyer follows the story of the very dashing defense attorney Mickey Haller, played by Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Haller handles his cases and clients from his Lincoln, with keen strategy, dilemmas, and personal challenges.
There’s courtroom drama (my guilty pleasure), with intriguing characters and sharp storytelling. The blend of suspense, drama, and twists brings a compelling take on the justice system, making it the perfect weekend watch on Netflix. The cast includes Becki Newton, Yaya DaCosta, Angus Sampson, and Jazz Raycole.
Not missing out on those movies, we have…
1. Buckingham Murders

Directed by Hansal Mehta, The Buckingham Murders is a crime drama that follows the investigations in a quiet, upscale neighborhood in Leicester. Our favorite, Kareena Kapoor Khan as Detective Serena Lane, who is also dealing with the death of her son, investigates the killings that have shocked the UK. One may need to have the patience to watch it, with its slow pace, dark atmosphere, a few flawed characters, but all in all, it’s recommended.
As always, Kareena gives a powerful performance as a determined detective and grieving mother. The tension, suspense, lies, and twists bring us an intricate plot with Ranveer Brar, Ash Tandon, and Rukku Nahar among the cast. Will you be watching this Netflix original?
2. Lift

Are you thinking, “Seriously, another heist movie?” Yes, dear readers. Lift has action, high-tech thrills, and high energy. It follows Kevin Hart as Alto, a mastermind, who, along with his team of societal misfits, plans the perfect heist—because why not? That signature Kevin Hart humor is definitely there too!
It’s like The Italian Job meets Jumanji—yeah, you get the picture, don’t you? With the year we’ve had, we could all use a little bit of humor.
3. Chamkila

Diljit Dosanjh shines as the iconic yet controversial Punjabi singer Chamkila. The movie takes us on an emotional journey, with Chamkila’s highs, lows, and many life dramas. Diljit, as always, won our hearts with his heartfelt performance. Plus, the movie’s album is just so good too, from Tu Kya Jaane and Main Hoon Punjab to the remakes of Chamkila’s performances and songs.
This Imtiaz Ali film, co-starring Parineeti Chopra, makes for a great late-night watch. It also serves as motivation for many to do what they want in life, proving that challenges can simply be overcome.
4. Do Patti

Do Patti might not be right up everyone’s alley, but it is a suspense thriller to breeze through if you’re a Kriti Sanon fan. Starring Kriti Sanon, Shaheer Sheikh, and Kajol. Kriti plays the roles of twin sisters, Saumya and Shallie, who are haunted by deep secrets and unresolved trauma. Kajol portrays Vidya Jyothi, an inspector determined to uncover the truth behind an attempted murder case—an investigation that kicks off right from the film’s first scene.
The movie delves into powerful themes like PTSD, mental health, domestic violence, and women supporting women in an oppressive environment. Shaheer Sheikh impresses with a gripping performance as Dhruv, making his theatrical debut a memorable one. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers with compelling performances and intricate storytelling, Do Patti is the perfect movie to binge this December on Netflix!
5. Sector 36

Sector 36 comes with a trigger warning: it’s gruesome, violent, and in a way explicit. So, it’s PG-18.
Vikrant Massey may have announced a hiatus from films, but at the peak of his career, his latest in 2024 has surely left a mark. Sector 36 is a crime thriller that follows a police officer on a pursuit to find the culprit behind children going missing from the Sector 36 slums in India. He is led to Prem Singh, played by Massey, who is a sly killer with a very sinister agenda.
Sector 36 keeps you on the edge of your seat, making you question everything for a moment. This is the perfect match for those who love a dark storyline.
This watchlist is packed with movies and shows that are guaranteed to get you through December – a mix of thrilling stories and powerful performances. Whether you’re binge-watching over the weekend or looking for something to enjoy during the holidays, or just want something playing in the background, these picks will keep you entertained all month long. So, grab your popcorn, hot coco, or even a bowl of freshly made ramen, and get ready to immerse yourself in these must-see TV shows and movies. Happy watching!
