The story takes a dark turn in Aye Ishq e Junoon, but that’s what’s keeping us watching yeah? Shehroze and his mom have turned on Rahim and oh what a story they spin. Are we the only ones waiting for the swimming pool video to resurface and pin the blame on Rahim completely?
Fast-Paced Drama
Events moved fast in Aye Isq e Junoon this week as Aimen reveals the name of the culprit as Ali Nawaz’s son, Maheen dives deeper into her insecurities and Rahim is suspected by his father too. The saving grace was Farooq’s decision not to act in cohorts with Shehroze’s mother, Afiya Nawaz, and save her son, his nephew.
Thank Goodness someone is thinking clearly (and with integrity) in the drama!
Police Investigation Is Missing A Link
But first thing’s first. We are a bit confused as to why our police officer in charge of the investigation has not determined yet that Ali Nawaz has two sons? The confusion is so deliberate that it undermines the rest of the story which is heavily dependent upon this reveal. Or, as we gather, he is so interested in sourcing his double chai ka cup that he can’t seem to investigate the case more thoroughly?
Afiya and Shehroze were pushed up against a wall and they pounced on the opportunity to save Shehroze by implicating Rahim in the case. All clues lead to Rahim: Aimen was in his room, he had ordered the turn off the CCTV coverage and he had also stepped inside the house for a bit. So, although the evidence is heavily stacked against him, one wishes that his father, Ali Nawaz, had verified the facts and at least listened to Rahim’s explanation – another reason we feel the story is a forced push towards steering the plot in a certain direction.
Afiya cunningly brainwashing Ali Nawaz that he always sides with Rahim regardless of the situation, is playing on his conscience, so while the narrative might be a bit forced, Afiya’s guilt trips are certainly making Ali Nawaz think the impossible – that Rahim might be the real culprit.
What Happens Next?
Will Aimen ever verify the truth or will this confusion stay on for a few more episodes, hence, digging a deeper web of lies for Rahim.
Jamal is all supportive right now and standing up for Aimen’s character, but that might change soon. We expect he just needs one piece of evidence, for example that secret video shot by Shehroze’s friends that will turn him into the typical toxic fiancé trope and perhaps, turn Aimen’s family against her too? Oh dear, we hope the drama can keep it original here, but we fear the worst.
And this is why…
The conversation between the hotel staff was totally uncalled for. Why would they talk about Aimen in that manner when no one really knows what happened to her? Why is it assumed that she ran off with a guy, possibly Rahim. Even if the drama is attempting to mirror reality and society’s judgment calls on women, perhaps the execution of it and the conversations could have been more relatable.
Perhaps if there was more evidence to suggest that Aimen had left with Rahim or Shehroze from the party, which is not present at the moment, we could have second guessed that Aimen had a plan, which is clearly not the case, except for the loose gossip of the hotel staff.
Hence, one wonders if such conversations harm the cause more than helping young, unsuspecting girls who might fall peril to the dark deeds of others.
Shehryar Munawar as Rahim delivered an emotional scene as he wept outside his father’s door and one felt for his character. One hopes that Farooq will help him navigate the case and Aye Ishq e Junoon turn out to be a dramatic crime thriller all rolled into one.
