Zanjeerain: even though the audience didn’t explicitly demand it, deep down we needed to see Rabeeya’s guilt and sadness over being the reason for Mudassir’s murder. What a heartbreaking moment that made us cry for Rabeeya and appreciate Sar Buland even more.

Last night’s episode established two very important things: Sher Bano’s jealousy and pain, and Sar Buland’s clarity in placing Rabeeya’s safety and well-being above all else. These two points are crucial for what happens next in the drama. The episode was vital in transitioning to the next chapter of Zanjeerain.
Sar Buland didn’t even tell his own mother the truth about Rabeeya. It was only when he saw Sher Bano losing control that he told her the truth. This action showed the sensitive and caring side of Sar Buland. He is strong and unwavering when it comes to his decisions, but he also softens when he sees Sher Bano in pain. We wonder how he will manage this combination during upcoming situations with Rabeeya.
Sar Buland always lowering his gaze in Rabeeya’s presence is such a beautiful detail to the character. It makes us feel comfortable with him being around Rabeeya, knowing that she will also feel comfortable with him. It is a very small thing, but making the audience trust a character and believe in him is highly important because it creates a connection between the character and the audience. So when the drama wants the audience to cry or root for him, they do so wholeheartedly.
Shirin the helper – she is such a firecracker. There is something very fishy about her. We would love to see her reality and what she has been up to. Sher Bano’s sixth sense is probably telling her something is wrong, and that is why she is behaving like a small child, throwing tantrums. Rabeeya is unable to comprehend what is happening around her. The loss and the guilt are so strong – how does one live with something like this? Knowing that you might have caused the death of a genuinely good person who was living a happy life.
What an amazing performance by Sajal Ali once again. She was doing all the talking with her eyes. There is a sense of lifelessness in her gaze, yet she portrays multiple emotions with just her eyes. Thank God she bursts out in front of Sar Buland, telling him she doesn’t want to live and that the guilt is overwhelming. Interestingly, Sar Buland tells her firmly but kindly to accept reality and try to live. Very harsh words, but probably needed.
Torsam bhai, what will you do when you find out that Rabeeya is right there under your nose? We can’t wait to find out. But shouldn’t he get to know, or at least suspect something, when news of a girl arriving at the haveli reaches him? He should be a little suspicious.
