Ever find yourself up during the late hours of the night, at midnight when the rest of the world is asleep? The calmness of the night is the time you have to yourself. Just you with your thoughts and maybe a midnight snack or two? But at the same time, a part of you wants to sit on the balcony or garden, stargaze, while you get lost into some mesmerising tunes?
If yes, I feel you because I’m a night owl too. Getting lost in my own world is kind of my specialty. So, I guess you could say: I can relate.
Keeping me company while I write late night, or just take in the calmness are the songs I love to hear on loop. At this hour, they’re not the upbeat, EDM or pop songs. They’re the quieter ones. For which the music isn’t loud, but the words are louder and you can feel them. Let’s see what my midnight playlist holds!
1. Halka Halka Suroor
This has always been one of my favorites and been in my playlist for many years and it’ll forever continue to be there forever.
2. Udh Chaliye
Udh Chaliye gives you the late night long drive feels and the vibe of the song makes it so much more special. This has been my quarantine song and continues to be. Whenever I’m travelling or just on a drive in the beautiful city of Islamabad, it’s a must listen!
3. Kun Faya Kun
No words to describe my love for this song. The calm feeling and closure you get from this song are immaculate.
4. Hurt – Johnny Cash
This one’s from the last Wolverine installment, ‘Logan’, which caught my attention from the very first time I heard it and I never looked back since then.
5. The Night We Met – Lord Huron
Late night drives, or even a little stargazing when listening to this song will take you to a whole new dimension.
6. Hold On – Chord Overstreet
Hold On might even make you shed a tear or so. Isn’t that what makes songs great?
7. Kal Ho Na Ho
Kal ho na ho ka kia hi kehna. It’s an evergreen track!
8. O Re Piya
O Re Piya will always have a special place in my heart. The lyrics, composition and everything else was just on point. Believe it or not I’m listening to it right now too. At times when you feel lost, anxious, this one will calm you down 100%
9. Bol Na Halke Halke
What can I say for Bol Na Halke Halke? It’s one of those songs which doesn’t even need a description. It’s flawless.
10. Dusk Till Dawn – Zayn ft. Sia
Zayn never disappoints and safe to say his solo career is thriving, although I do wish we got more songs from him, tbh. Dusk Till Dawn is one of those songs, which lives in my mind rent free and I know the lyrics by heart to, too!
11. Bad Liar – Imagine Dragons
This song really makes you connect with your emotions, no matter how strong you may appear to be.
Also the line ‘It’s been a difficult year’ hits hard too!
It’s a wide variety and options, but these are my go to. Plug in your headphones, sit back and enjoy the songs and the night while it lasts!
