We don’t know about you but watching Aswad & Mehreen’s chemistry is giving us couple vibes that last long after the episode is over!
Before we go one with the episode review, a shout out to Usman Mukhtar aka Aswad who has totally slipped into character like a glove. From the boyish hairdo to the leaner look and the muted possessiveness – looking out for a cousin (Mehreen) mixed with something more? Aswad is giving us a male lead who has stepped up to the challenge.
Despite scoring high on the gullibility spectrum, and viewers berating him for taking Mashal’s fibs at face value, his tangible affection for Mehreen is making us melt at the sight of them both together – those kitchen scenes are just wow!
Safe to say, we are loving Mehreen & Aswad’s chemistry. This episode fleshed out Aswad’s character, which was much needed & definitely made many young hearts fall for him.
Episode Review
Every time Mehreen makes Mashal angry, especially if it involves Aswad, Mehreen has to pay a price, this time it will be Saffan… what do you think Mashal will do? No spoiler alerts please, only suggestions…
Does Mashal have keys to Mehreen’s room? The bird’s death should have warned Mehreen. Suggest what can Mehreen do to hide at least her inhaler from Mashal?
Sharp Direction
Being able to connect viewers with the characters is not only the playwright’s prerogative, but also a director essential. HKKST is nailing relationship dynamics in each episode. From Mashal & Mehreen’s enmity to Aswad & his mom’s affection, to the family dynamics – Shagufta & co. Subtle nuances, expressions & of course, sharp scripting is giving us insights to the personalities behind the screen – we can relate to Mehreen’s helplessness, Aswad’s mother’s silent appraisal of her family intrigues & of course, Mashal’s defiant, almost psychotic single-mindedness. yes, all that because the writer director team of Umera Ahmed & Farooq Rind are giving us substance in every episode!
Notable Performances
Usman Mukhtar is winning us for depicting subtle character traits & angles to Aswad’s personality. His frustration at not being able to talk to Mehreen but desperately wanting to help her somehow is endearing & frustrating at the same time. We wish he wouldn’t just believe everything that Mashal says… what do you guys think?
Heart winning performance by Huma Nawab.
If nothing else, this drama should be watched just for Mahira Khan’s brilliant performance.
Although the narrative is being criticized for being dated and perhaps, one-dimensional, the performances – from Kubra Khan, right down to Laila Wasti are keeping Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thay very much in the running. And that said, we cannot wait for episode next.
