Amanat is a new ARY Digital series airing soon. The teaser was nothing short of riveting and held my attention for its entire 2 minutes or so. Visually appealing characters, drop dead attire, uber-royal vibes! I am hooked, well, sort of…
Imagine Saboor Aly in a dashing black gharara, looking like, a million bucks!! But hold on. She looks incredibly sad and is gradually de-ornamenting/ taking off all her shaadi bling. She then tosses her red dupatta in a blazing fire.
The scene shifts to the breathtakingly beautiful Urwa Hocane, looking resplendent in a white shaadi jora. She is happily ‘ornamenting’ (yes, I made up that adjective) herself, the jhoomar, the teeka, one by one. Is the opening scene making you want more? Well, there is more.
Just as we take in the starkly contrasting color coordination, Saboor in startling black, and Urwa in brilliant white, enter our hero, none other than our desi Tom Cruise, Imran Abbas! He is also dressed in a full on shaadi sherwani!! I actually found Imran’s sherwani embellished with gold embroidery, quite a sight to behold! Even more than Urwa’s and Saboor’s ornate bridals – and that, in a good way.
Wait, are we talking about ARY’s new drama ‘Amanat’ or the Karachi Fashion Week? Nope, still on Amanat! It is just that in Amanat, the ‘apparent’ story, it is a teaser after all, appears to take a back seat to the actors and their overtly gorgeous attire.
Okay, let me tell you the real reason why I am so focused on the actors and their joras! 2 alluringly beautiful women and 1 handsome man, in a Pakistani drama? You guessed it and you are probably right!
Amanat does seem to be a very desi love triangle!! Except the story seems to take a turn when we find Imran letting go of Urwa’s hand. He shifts his focus to Saboor, while still standing close to Urwa. Hmm, very interesting!!
My initial take after watching the Amanat teaser is that the plot maybe a bit tried and tested but the treatment is different. I would definitely watch Amanat, for Saboor, Urwa, Imran and hopefully, a very engaging story line!!
Amanat, directed by Shahid Shafat of Dil Mom ka Diya and penned by Rukhsana Nigar, has been produced under Six Sigma and Next Level Entertainment. It will be airing on ARY digital. We seriously cannot wait to see more of Urwa, Imran and Saboor. Let’s not forget our very blue eyed boy Haroon Shahid & Mirza Gohar Rasheed too. So a love square or more, not a triangle (as the teaser would have us believe), in the making.. Either way, stay tuned for Amanat every week!!
Speaking of Haroon, the second teaser drop was underway as we write this. Urwa & Imran seem to be making a match of it as in walks the second woman – Saboor, but not without her (beau)? in tow – yes, none other than Haroon Shahid who holds out his hand to lend his allegiance. We assume Mirza Gohar Rasheed will make an entry very soon.
Is Amanat a saga of revenge, love, betrayal or something more.
