The new drama serial Biryani is three episodes in, and if you haven’t started watching it yet, here’s a quick recap for you!

The drama Biryani introduces us to Nisa Majeed (Ramsha Khan), an outspoken, determined, and responsible young woman who is striving to make her mark in the world. She’s a BBA 6th semester student, star performer, scholarship holder, and research fellow – raised by a single mother (Laila Wasti) and her beloved Mamu Jan (Javed Rizvi), who always has nostalgic tales of his youth to share.
Opposite her is Meer Meran Zaman (Khushhal Khan), a quiet, thoughtful young man from privilege – son of a powerful landlord and a major donor to the university. Meer has lived an easy life, even completing his intermediate privately from home. Unlike Nisa, who has struggled every step of the way, Meer has never had to fight for much – except perhaps for the chance to remain unnoticed despite his big name.
Their first meeting is anything but romantic. Nisa, fiercely protective of her GPA, is forced by Sir Shamsi (Shariq Mehmood) to tutor Meer, a new BBA 1st semester student. She sees him as a distraction and does everything she can to wriggle out of the responsibility.
With the help of her mischievous Mamu, Nisa hatches schemes to drive Meer away – from staged electricity breakdowns to even roping in local goons to scare him off. But to her frustration, Meer patiently endures every obstacle and refuses to leave her tuition sessions.
So far, Biryani is shaping up as a witty clash between two very different worlds – Nisa’s hard-earned resilience and Meer’s quiet privilege – with hints of a deeper connection yet to come.
Biryani airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8:00 PM on ARY Digital.
