There’s nothing we Pakistanis like more than a good song that we can groove to, luckily, the second season of Bisconni Music is here to save the day! With an uber-talented lineup of budding and popular artists and an eclectic mix of genres, there’s something here for everyone! So whether you like folk-Sufi fusion or hip-hop, Bisconni Music has got you covered!
Each Performance, Better Than The Last!
Season 1 of Bisconni Music produced by Saad Hayat featured Ahmed Jahanzeb, Shuja Haider, Sajid & Zeeshan amongst many others and gave us multiple hits such as Dil Bhara Nahi, Mughal-e-funk and Surmai Ankhon Main. Needless to say, Season 2 is no different! Season 2 is produced by Raafay Israr and features some of the biggest names of the Pakistani music industry. With original music tracks and powerful performances, it’s a feast for the senses!
Love & All Its Forms
Bisconni Music Season 2 has brought us three songs that talk about love and all of its forms. From feelings of unrequited love to finally acknowledging your feelings and even trying to move on from a relationship – there’s a song for whatever you’re going through right now.
The first song in the lineup is Aima Baig’s ‘Tu mera na hua‘, which is very reminiscent of a Taylor Swift performance and highlights Aima Baig’s prowess on the stage. With her at the piano, serenading us with a song about unrequited love, Aima takes us on a journey of heartbreak and coming to terms with it. The woeful lyrics of the song (‘…main kho chuki hun bas khud main hi kahin, har pal rehti hai bas teri hi kami…’) make it the perfect song to listen to after a breakup.
Next, we have ‘Dharkanen’ featuring Amanat Ali and Maria Unera. The duo brings us an upbeat number that urges us to throw caution to the wind and embrace love (‘…tu subha hai shaam meri, kyun hum rakhen ye fasala…’), because if the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that the time to declare your love is NOW!
Lastly, we have the most recent release, Asim Azhar’s ‘Pul Ja’. Name a song by Asim Azhar that’s not an instantaneous hit? Exactly. This song is no different. With its upbeat chorus (‘…kabhi mera hath tham le, kabhi mujh ko tu jaan le…’) and Punjabi lyrics, we can’t stop humming along!
Dance-floor Hits of 2022!
Next, we have two songs that’ll light up every dance floor in 2022!
Asrar Shah’s ‘Malang’ is an upbeat Sufi-Pop fusion and hands down our favourite song from this season. And, dare we say it, THE Shaadi song for 2022! The 20-second sitar solo won our hearts and we just wish there was more of it!
Likewise, we can also envision people grooving to Rafay Israr’s ‘Ranjha’ on mehndi-night! The hip-hop fusion with a Punjabi chorus definitely hits the spot and will have you listening to the song on repeat!
Where Old Meets New
Kashmir has been the best thing to emerge out of the Pakistani indie music scene, so you can imagine how ecstatic we were to find out about the collaboration between them and Mai Dhai! Bilal Ali blew us away with his vocals, while Mai Dhai was exceptional as always. Moreover, the lyrics will resonate with most love-struck audiences (‘…khuwab sa tha, need sa tha, jiski sochun main jiya tha…’) and leave them in a trance. ‘Yaaden‘ is the perfect blend of folk and alt-rock and proves that Pakistan still has a lot of undiscovered talent that needs to be highlighted. Good for us, Bisconni Music is doing just that!
