The Japanese Train That Uses Ramen Soup To Generate Fuel
An open-top sightseeing train in Japan has become the talk of the town for the source it draws its energy from. The train that takes tourists on a sightseeing journey on Kyushu Islands runs on fuel derived from Ramen soup. The idea for this unique biodiesel fuel was birthed by Masumi Nishida, founder of Nishida Shoun, the company that developed the biofuel. Using the lard extracted from discarded ramen soup and used cooking oil, Nishida invented the biofuel, which now powers the sight-seeing locomotive. The recipe of this biodiesel involves mixing discarded Tempura oil and the lard extracted from Tonkotsu, a type of pork bone broth, and ramen soup. The mixture, after undergoing a chemical process, churns out a fuel that is capable of running the engine of the locomotive.
What’s ‘Digital Amnesia’ & How Your Smartphone Contributes To The Problem
Do our smartphones enrich our lives or is our reliance on our smartphones changing the way our memories work (dubbed digital amnesia)? Smartphones have become a significant part of our lives since the 2000s, however, it was accelerated after the pandemic. Prolonged periods of stress, isolation and exhaustion have become common themes since March 2020. These are also said to have an impact on a person’s memory. Of those surveyed by memory researcher Catherine Loveday in 2021, 80% felt that their memories were worse than before the pandemic. Many of us self-soothe with distractions like social media. Meanwhile, endless scrolling can, at times, create its own distress, and phone notifications and self-interrupting to check for them, also seem to affect what, how and if we remember. However, that’s not all. According to Professor Oliver Hardt, who studies the neurobiology of memory and forgetting at McGill University in Montreal, something as simple as using the GPS on your phone can cause impairments in spatial memory abilities that require the hippocampus. “The less you use that mind of yours, the less you use the systems that are responsible for complicated things like episodic memories, or cognitive flexibility, the more likely it is to develop dementia”, stated Professor Oliver Hardt.

Meet Simba – Pakistan’s Latest Social Media Sensation Garnering Fame Globally
Simba, the kid goat with extraordinarily long ears, has become a media star overnight! Born in Karachi last month, Simba’s strikingly long ears – which have grown to reach 54cm (21in), have garnered him attention from people across the globe. Simba’s breeder Mohammad Hasan Narejo says he often has to fold Simba’s ears over his back to stop the kid goat from standing on them. However, he is wary of the attention Simba has attracted – including from rival breeders – and says he is praying to try to fend off any ill will. “Within 10 to 12 days of his birth, he was already appearing in all the national and international media – and won a beauty contest. Within 30 days he became so popular that even a famous personality might take 25 to 30 years to achieve this level of fame”, stated Narejo to a local news outlet. According to local news outlets, Narejo plans to raise Simba as a stud to promote the image of Pakistan as a top goat-breeding nation.
