A Pakistani crime thriller that has a bit of everything? Yes, please! Case No. 9 is filling that gap – and if you still don’t know what all the hype is about, here’s a quick story catch-up for you!

Case No. 9 is a Pakistani crime thriller that mixes mystery, social commentary, and strong performances by some of the biggest names in the industry.
The story follows Sehar (Saba Qamar), a divorcee who is invited to dinner by Kamran (Faysal Quraishi), a powerful and well-connected businessman. Sehar assumes it will be a friendly dinner with Kamran’s wife Kiran, his business partner Rohit (Junaid Khan), and Rohit’s wife Manisha (Naveen Waqar). What she doesn’t know is that Kamran has secretly cancelled the dinner for everyone else. He sends his pregnant wife to her parents’ home, tells the servants to leave early, and informs Rohit that the dinner has been called off.
Sehar arrives at Kamran’s house, unaware that she is completely alone. After some time, she messages Rohit to ask where everyone is and why no one has shown up. Rohit becomes alarmed because Kamran had told him the dinner was cancelled. Realizing that something is not right, he rushes to Kamran’s house. When he arrives, he finds Sehar unconscious in the bathroom – she has been raped. Kamran stands there in shock, claiming he doesn’t know what happened. Sehar later regains consciousness, runs out of the house in panic, and drives away, traumatized by the assault.
Back home, Sehar’s family keeps her inside for several days, trying to avoid public attention. After nearly a week, she gathers the courage to go to the police station at night and registers an FIR against Kamran. The case is assigned to Inspector Shafiq (Mirza Gohar Rasheed). When Sehar files the report, she is told that because she waited six to seven days, the medical examination might not show any evidence. Her clothes, which could have been important evidence, were washed and thrown away by her mother, leaving her case even weaker.
Kamran, using his influence and wealth, manipulates the situation to protect himself. He bribes the servants to lie, instructing them to say they were home that night and only heard some shouting. He also pressures Rohit, reminding him of their business relationship and past favors, trying to keep him silent.
Rohit finds himself caught between loyalty and conscience. His wife Manisha, who runs an NGO that supports victims of domestic violence, refuses to stay quiet. She stands by Sehar and decides to help her fight the case, even if it means going against her husband and Kamran.
Inspector Shafiq, on the other hand, uses his power to publicly shame Sehar by arriving at her home with sirens so that the whole neighborhood notices. This shows how victims are often humiliated and discouraged from pursuing justice.
As the case unfolds, Kamran’s lawyer Bukhari (Noor-ul-Hassan), advises him to get pre-arrest bail to avoid going to jail. The story exposes how wealth and status can be used to twist the law, while victims struggle for credibility and support.
