The new drama serial Dil Dhoondta Hai Phir Wohi started last week, and here’s what the story has offered so far!
Ali (Zahid Ahmed) and Ramsha (Zara Noor Abbas) are a married couple, together for ten years. They share a happy life and have one son, Ahmed. Through the storytelling, we got to know that they previously had a daughter, Dua, who tragically died in a car accident. Ali was driving at the time, and he carries guilt and trauma from the incident, which he tries to suppress.
The couple lives away from their families – likely in Karachi – while Ali’s family is in Lahore. This physical distance reflects some emotional estrangement as well. Despite their happiness together, both Ali and Ramsha remain somewhat disconnected from their families.
The central story revolves around Ali and the early onset of dementia. He begins experiencing forgetfulness and cognitive lapses: misplacing his car keys, forgetting parts of work presentations, or failing to recall small tasks he promised to do. These lapses frustrate him, and he struggles to understand what’s happening, highlighting the beginning of a profound personal challenge.
Ali is highly intelligent and meticulous. Through the storytelling, we got to know that a video he made for a young colleague shows his sharpness and thoroughness in his professional life, highlighting the contrast between who he was and the difficulties he now faces.
Meanwhile, Ali’s brother Imran (Faizan Shaikh) is morally dubious. He lives with their mother and sister but is involved in fraudulent activities at his bank job. Imran is focused on acquiring property in Multan, intending to claim a plot that Ali has reserved for their sister, Muqaddas. He even initiates a court case to try to force Ali to hand it over.
Overall, the story follows a loving couple navigating personal grief, family estrangement, and the early challenges of dementia, setting the stage for an emotionally rich and intense narrative.
