You call it the summer season? Pakistanis call it the Aam season.

The glorious Aam is back, after all – the King of fruits most people look forward to every year.
From vendors piling-up extra mangoes on their carts, to juice shops serving fresh and pulpy mango shakes, to people buying cartons of ripe mangoes weekly, to eating mango dips, custards, and sorbets, people are already and fully celebrating the mango season.
Recently, people took onto twitter to discuss the same old question that comes around every year – which type of mango is the best kind? With its various varieties available, it is obviously difficult to reach a consensus among mango lovers.
Twitter was abuzz with the debate: Chaunsa V.S Sindhri.
This is what the Sindhri lovers had to say:
Some even gave their taste-buds a mix of sweet and spice as they tried Sindhri Chicken Qorma.
The Chuansa crazies were equally defensive about their choice of Aam.
And of course, Anwar Ratol also became a part of discussion, as some could not imagine the mango season without Anwar Ratol.
Amidst the lock-down and unfortunate times in the wake of COVID-19, the mango season continues to serve as a moment of joy and connection among family members as they gather around their dinner tables to eat their favorite kind, and recall their childhood mango memories.
What did we learn new from the Mango debate? Apparently, Hum Sagar Mangoes come from Bangladesh & India. Bet you Pakistani folks didn’t know about that! Also, it doesn’t matter which kind you have, Langra, Sindhri, Anwar Ratol, Dusehri or Chaunsa – the one you love, is the BEST one for you. And THAT lays to rest, the very happening Mango debate – eat on and play the Mango season like never before!
Mango is one of my favorite fruit but this year due to COVID 19 we can’t manage to have mango parties and the due to locust we may be unable to get all varieties of mangoes 🙁
One way can be learned by starting to see the magic in everything. Sometimes it seems to be hiding but it is always there. The more we can see the magic in one thing, a tiny flower, a mango, someone we love, then the more we are able to see the magic in everything and in everyone. Where does the mango stop and the sky begin?
The best mango is white chaunsa. After that any chaunsa. After that anwar ratol.
