Congratulations to the entire team for not taking the typical and clichéd route of marrying the girl to her abuser because of compromised circumstances, and then making her fall in love with him. Chauraha is winning our hearts.
What a beautiful and logical argument given by Saleem Sahib to Shirin about not getting Zoya married to his son and compromising on her future – an idea much needed to be propagated and normalized.
Chauraha Is Making Us Think
Another critical point highlighted by the drama is about arranging the marriage of women who have grown up daughters/ children. The drama beautifully portrays the typical thinking of society and then makes us question why it should be embarrassing for woman to re-marry just because their daughter has reached a marriageable age?
Our favourite part was the idea communicated through the drama that instead of forcing girls into marriage at a young age, provide them a comfortable environment through the marriage of their mothers so that they can study further and grow into independent, confident young girls instead of seeking a compromise and being miserable in a marriage that wasn’t their first option.
However we wish Saleem Sahib had taken his own children into confidence and ensured their marzi as well, especially his daughter’s consent, as being a young girl, she is reacting very sensitively.
Will Saleem Sahib Change?
But will Saleem Sahib live up to all his claims? Or when he becomes a husband, will we see him turning into a typical, controlling man?
The drama has reached a very interesting point. How Zoya handles this new scenario with Junaid is keeping us hooked to the story.
